San Diego Padres affiliates went 0-4 on Friday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 9-2 to Sacramento)

Jackson Wolf– 3 IP, 4 H, 5 ER, 4 BB, 3 K (67 pitches- 39 strikes)

Kevin Kopps– 2 IP, BB, 3 K (27 pitches- 16 strikes)

The Chihuahuas could not get much going with the bat as they lost 9-2 on the road. Jackson Wolf started the game, and the newly claimed lefty from the Pirates went three innings and allowed five earned runs. Wolf was traded to the Pirates for Rich Hill in August of 2023, only to be claimed by the Padres a few weeks ago. Kevin Koops threw two shutout innings of relief, and the slider specialist could earn some playing time with the Padres relatively soon.

Clay Dungan continued to swing a hot bat. The veteran went 1-for-3 on the night with a walk. Dungan has a 1.054 OPS to start the season for El Paso. The 27-year-old left-handed hitter is nothing pore than organizational depth at this point for the Padres. Matthew Batter singled and drove in two runs for the Chihuahuas in the loss. Graham Pauley went 0-for-4 in the loss with a strikeout.

San Antonio Missions (Lost to NW Arkansas 4-2) (4-3 0n the season)

Ripken Reyes– (1-for-3) RBI, 2 SB

Nathan Martorella– (0-for-2) 2 BB, SB

Ray-Patrick Didder– (1-for-4) 2B, Run

Robby Snelling– 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, BB, 6 K (63 pitches- 47 strikes)

The Missions lost again to Northwest Arkansas on Friday. San Antonio dropped their third straight game to the Naturals after starting the season 3-0. Robby Snelling left the game with the lead, but the bullpen coughed up the lead in the seventh inning, allowing three runs to score. That essentially ended the contest for the Missions. Snelling went five strong innings, allowing three hits and one run in 63 total pitches. The left-handed throws strikes and attacks hitters. There is not much else you need to see from him. Raul Brito was charged with the loss, allowing three runs in his 1.1 innings of work.

The offense did not do much in the game, as the Missions only recorded five hits and three walks. Ripken Reyes drove in a run and stole two bases for the Missions. Ray-Patrick Didder doubled in the loss, and Connor Hollis was 1-for-4. The Missions struck out nine times in the game, and Zach Reks recorded three of them in an 0-for-4 day at the plate.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost to Lake County 7-6) (1-4 on the season)

Jarryd Dale– (2-for-4) Run, 2 RBI, SB, BB

Tyler Robertson– (2-for-4) 2 2B, 2 Runs, RBI, BB, K

Kai Murphy– (1-for-3) 2B, RBI, 3 Runs, 2 K

Jagger Haynes– 0.1 IP, 2 H, 4 ER, 4 BB (32 pitches- 13 strikes)

Lake County recorded four runs in the first and three runs in the sixth and held on to a 7-6 lead against the TinCaps. Fort Wayne outhit the Captains 10-to-8 but could not get the deciding run to cross the plate in the loss. Fort Wayne was 4-for-18 in the loss, with runners in scoring position. Southpaw Jagger Haynes could not get out of the first inning as he allowed four runs on two hits and four walks while only recording one out. Miguel Cienfuegos took the loss, but the left pitched well, going four innings and allowing three hits and two walks. The defense went bad for the TinCaps and Cienfuegos was charged with three unearned runs on a Tyler Robertson fielding error.

Robinson doubled twice for the TinCaps and drove in a run in four at-bats. Kai Murphy, son of Pat Murphy, doubled, scored three runs, and drove in a run. Australian Jarryd Dale recorded two hits and two RBI in the loss. Dale also stole a base for Fort Wayne. Ethan Salas went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two walks, and Homer Bush Jr. got the day off to start the game but entered late and earned a hit in his lone plate appearance.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 4-3 to Modesto) (3-4 on the season)

Miguel Mendez-4 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 2 K (56 pitches- 36 strikes)

Dillon Head– (1-for-4) RBI, CS

Jay Beshears– (1-for-3) BB

Rosman Verdugo– (1-for-3) 3B, Run, BB

The Storm lost a close one in Northern California, as the Nuts scored two runs in the sixth inning, which was the difference in the game. Eric Yost surrendered two runs in two innings of work and took the loss for the Lake Elsinore Storm. Miguel Mendez started the game and went four innings, allowing two earned runs on 56 pitches. Kobe Robinson threw the last two innings and did not allow a run to score. Robinson has yet to allow a run in 5.2 innings pitched this season.

Rosman Verdugo led off the ninth inning with a walk, but the Storm went down in order after that. Verdugo was 1-for-3 in the game with a triple and run scored. Dillon Head batted in the second spot in the lineup for the first time all year and went 1-f0r-4 with an RBI. Head is scuffling a bit to start the year and manager Lukas Ray decided to shake things up a bit. Jay Beshears continues to impress this season, and he went 1-for-3 in the game with a walk.
