San Diego State Aztecs to face Cal in San Jose Tip Off
The San Diego State Aztecs men’s basketball program will head north to The Bay during Christmas break to take on Cal Berkeley at the SAP Center, home of the San Jose Sharks.
The showcase will be played on Saturday, December 21, in one of the last games of the 2024 calendar year for SDSU.
The University of Oregon and Stanford will also face off against each other during the event.
Fans on the West Coast are accustomed to seeing Cal, Oregon, and Stanford as members of the Pac-12. However, that is no longer the case. Now that the Pac-12 split apart, Cal and Stanford will play in the ACC while Oregon heads to a popular conference in the Big Ten.
In November of 2023, SDSU and Cal met for the SoCal Showcase at JSerra High School in South Orange County. The Aztecs defeated the Golden Bears 76-67 in overtime. Returning senior Reese Waters scored 24 points in the win, which happened to be a season-high for the former USC Trojan.
The 2024-25 season is a few months down the road.
The Aztecs are awaiting the full schedule release but are aware of two non-conference matchups against Gonzaga on November 18 and now Cal Berkeley. They also will play in the Players Era Festival in Las Vegas during Thanksgiving break. SDSU will take on Texas A&M, among potentially others, at the MGM Grand.
