The catcher was placed on the IL before Friday’s game in San Francisco. In his place, the Padres have recalled Austin Allen from El Paso.
The left-handed-hitting catcher is 12-for-47 (.255) this year with San Diego and will provide some offensive firepower for a team that has been hurting in that regard.
