Padres Down on the Farm: April 27 (Rivas 2 homers, including walk-off for EP/big day for Samuel Zavala)
The San Diego Padres affiliates went 3-1 on Thursday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 8-7) (10-14 on the season)
Julio Teheran: 6.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, BB, 7 K (95 strikes, 58 pitches)

El Paso jumped on the board in the second with an RBI double from Matthew Batten. He scored one batter later on a single from Luis Liberato. Yorman Rodriguez doubled in two more in the third inning before scoring on a single from Preston Tucker to make it 5-0.
Aside from one run in the fourth, Julio Teheran was dealing for most of the night, striking out seven. The Bees finally got to the veteran in the seventh with a HR from Mickey Moniak. A few batters later, Jared Olivia tripled to make the score 5-3, ending Teheran’s night. Alfonso Rivas belted a two-run home run in the bottom half to give the Chihuahuas a 7-3 lead.

In the eighth inning, Moniak homered over the centerfield wall for the second time, this one counting for three runs for the 2016 #1 overall pick. Jo Adell tied the game for Salt Lake in the top of the ninth with an RBI single.
Rivas came up in the bottom of the ninth and homered for the second time on the night to send the El Paso crowd home happy. Rivas is now up to five long balls on the season.

San Antonio Missions (Won 5-1) (9-8 on the season)
Duncan Snider: 4.1 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 5 BB, 5 K (83 pitches, 49 strikes)
Tirso Ornelas: (2-for-4), RBI, SB
Daniel Johnson: (1-for-3), R, HR, 3 RBI
Luis Aviles Jr: (2-for-3), R, HR, RBI, SB
After allowing a quick run in the first inning, San Antonio answered back a pair in the bottom half with an RBI single from Tirso Ornelas and a sac fly from Daniel Johnson. Luis Aviles Jr. homered in the second to make it 3-1. The Missions tacked on two more in the third with a two-run blast from Johnson.

Despite allowing five walks, Duncan Snider gave up only one run in 4.1 innings, lowering his SERA on the season to 3.31 while striking out five. The Missions bullpen came in and was lights out, striking out nine in 4.2 innings.

After an early pitchers duel, the TinCaps bats came alive in the bottom of the fourth inning. After a double from Jackson Merrill and a walk from Lucas Dunn, Carlos Luis delivered a two-run double. Joshua Mears followed it up by putting a ball over the left field wall to make it 4-0 in favor of Fort Wayne.

Victor Lizarraga gave up a two-run home run in the fifth inning before getting pulled. Jesus Gonzalez made his High-A debut for the TinCaps Thursday with a mix of highs and lows. Despite striking out seven, the lefty was hit for four runs while picking up the loss in three innings of work.
Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 10-1 to Visalia Rawhide) (13-5 on the season)

After being held scoreless in the first inning, Lake Elsinore loaded the bases thanks to three straight infield errors by Visalia in the second inning. Samuel Zavala drew a one-out walk to give the Storm a 1-0 lead.
Jagger Haynes ran into trouble in the bottom half of the second. After Alvin Guzman reached on an error, Haynes walked Gavin Conticello before getting out. The Rawhide proceeded to pull off a double steal. A line drive off the glove of third baseman Wyatt Hoffman scored a run, ending Haynes day despite giving up just a run. Fernando Sanchez came in to end the rally.

In the fourth inning, Zavala came up again with the bases loaded. This time he laced a ball down the right field line for a double clearing the bases to give the Storm a 4-1 lead. Graham Pauley followed it up with a two-run home run chasing Visalia starter Wyatt Wendell.
Tyler Robertson added on a run with an RBI double in the fifth inning. After a walk to Zavala, Pauley ripped a single into left field, driving in Robertson to make it 8-1. The onslaught continued in the sixth with an RBI double from Wyatt Hoffman to make it 9-1.
Charlis Aquino ripped an RBI double down the left field line in the ninth, scoring Hoffman to make it 10-1.
