San Diego Padres affiliates were 3-1 as the El Paso Chihuahuas were unable to pull out a win.

Here is a recap of the day’s action:

El Paso Chihuahuas (21-22) Lost 4-0

The Chihuahuas are feeling the hangover of losing many players to the Padres’ major league roster. The team is now 5-13 for the month of May, but there are reinforcements coming soon in Double-A. On Saturday, El Paso only managed four hits on the night as they struck out 10 times. Hunter Renfroe was 0-for-4 for the Chihuahuas as the top four in the lineup were a combined 0-for-15. Robert Stock threw well in the loss and could get a look soon. The triple-digit fastball he throws is exciting, but he needs to work on his slider.

Diego Goris– (1-4)

Stephen McGee– (1-2) 2B, BB, K

Nick Schulz– (1-3) 2B, K

Robert Stock– 2 IP, 2 K (22 pitches- 13 strikes)

Dillon Overton– (Loss) 5 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 4 BB, 2 K (95 pitches- 56 strikes)

San Antonio Missions (26-16) Won 3-2

The Missions got back to their winning ways after a six-game losing streak. The team won 3-2 on Saturday as they scored the go-ahead run in the ninth with two outs as River Stevens was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Brad Wieck came on for his 3rd save, lowering his ERA to 3.38. 13 strikeouts for the Missions’ batters was the issue with the low scoring output. Michael Gettys, Rod Boykin, and Josh Naylor each struck out three times.

Michael Gettys– (1-4) HR, 2 RBI, Run, 3 K

Austin Allen– (1-4) 2 K

Josh Naylor– (0-4) 3 K

Seth Simmons– 4 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 5 K (51 pitches- 34 strikes)

Brad Wieck– (Save) 1 IP, 2 K (9 pitches- 8 strikes)

Lake Elsinore Storm (19-24) Won 10-7

The Storm are playing better ball of late, winning six out of their last eight games. On Saturday, Pedro Avila was on the mound and was solid through the first six innings, only allowing one earned run. He ran into trouble in the seventh and was unable to get out of the inning. The Storm gave up six late-inning runs, but were able to hold on to a 10-7 win over the Quakes. Edward Olivares hit his 4th homer of the year in the win and Luis Torrens went 4-for-5 and is hitting .314 on the year. He seems ticketed to San Antonio in the near future.

Edward Olivares– (3-5) HR, 3 Runs, 2 RBI

Jorge Ona– (3-5) 2B, 2 RBI, Run, BB

Luis Torrens– (4-5) Run, RBI

Hudson Potts– (1-3) Run, 2 BB, K

Pedro Avila– (Win) 6.2 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 8 K (94 pitches- 54 strikes)

Fort Wayne TinCaps (19-22) Won 5-4

The TinCaps walked off against the Cubs 5-4 as the team in Fort Wayne is really starting to heat up. Mason Thompson was on the mound and was a bit erratic on the day. He  went five innings, but did not factor in the game. With a runner on second, Gabriel Arias singled home the winning run in the 10th. Here is a more extensive recap of the game, as Ken Bugajski was in attendance for EVT.

Gabriel Arias– (2-5) 2B, RBI, 2 K

Luis Campusano– (3-4) Run

Luis Almanzar– (1-3) Run, BB, 2 K

Jack Suwinski– (1-4) 2 RBI, Run, SB, K

Mason Thompson– 5.1 IP, 4 H, 3 ER, 3 BB. 3 K (90 pitches- 53 strikes)
