Chargers Special: 5 Reasons to be Thankful for the San Diego Chargers
Chargers fans have a special place in their heart for LaDainian Tomlinson as he was truly one of the franchises best players, if not the best. We as fans were very lucky to view a talent as unique as LT. He had all the intangibles you seek when looking for a running back. His work ethic, pass blocking skills and leadership skills were sadly not recognized as much as his physical abilities. He was all about the team and winning and would never settle for anything less.
The star running back played for the Chargers for nine seasons. He totaled 12,490 yards and 138 touchdowns. He will always be remembered for his record-breaking touchdown against the Denver Broncos in 2006. His offensive line putting them on their shoulders to celebrate is a great Chargers memory.
LT scored 28 rushing touchdowns in 2006 and added three touchdowns by reception. That record still stands, and will be very difficult to break. He is also third all time in career NFL touchdowns with 162. Only Jerry Rice (208) and Emmitt Smith (175) have more career touchdowns.
This past Sunday Tomlinson was honored as his number was retired and he was added to the Chargers ring of honor. No Chargers player will ever wear the #21 jersey and that is very fitting for one of the greatest players in the history of the game. LT is working for the NFL Network and does an outstanding job expressing his thoughts and giving his insight to the modern game of football. We as Chargers fans thank LT and give big time thanks for him on this Holiday.
