The San Diego Padres‘ minor league affiliates went 1-4 on Wednesday.

Here is the recap of the day’s action down on the farm.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Lost 2-0 to Tacoma Rainiers)

Brett Sullivan: (2-for-3), 2 2B

Donovan Solano: (0-for-3), BB

Tirso Ornelas: (2-for-3)

Jackson Wolf: 4.2 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 4 K

The offense never got going for El Paso in Tacoma. A costly balk after a third unsuccessful pickoff attempt by Wolf put a runner in scoring position. The next batter singled home the runner from second to give Tacoma a 1-0 lead. El Paso never recovered. Sullivan doubled twice but was stranded. Recent signee Donovan Solano walked and also lined a missile to left field, but it was tracked down at the warning track. The Rainiers tacked on another run late to win 2-0.

Donovan Solano lines out but that ball was SMOKED. 101.7 MPH exit velo. It was like a 2-iron all the way to the warning track but caught in LF.

San Antonio Missions (Won 9-6 vs. Wichita Wind Surge)

Zach Reks: (1-for-4), HR, 4 RBI

Jakob Marsee: (2-for-4), R

Robert Perez Jr.: (1-for-4), 3 RBI

Austin Krob: 4.1 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 6 K

It was an up-and-down day for the starter Krob. After a scoreless first, he allowed three in the second. Then tossed two straight scoreless frames. All in all, he struck out six but faltered in the fifth and was charged with two more runs before he left early. The Missions trailed 5-2 after five innings. With runners on second and third, no one out, the Missions put the ball in play for two RBI groundouts. The Missions loaded the bases in the seventh before a single and a three-run homer put five runs on the board. That put San Antonio up 9-5, and they would hold on to win.

Fort Wayne TinCaps Game 1 (Lost 11-1 to Great Lakes Loons)

Ethan Salas: (1-for-3)

Tyler Robertson: (1-for-3), 2B RBI

Homer Bush Jr.: (0-for-2), BB, R, SB

Jagger Haynes: 2.2 IP, 4 ER, 3 BB, 5 K

The game started with two scoreless frames. The Loons opened it up in the third with four runs against Haynes with a double and a homer. The knockout blow came in the fourth when Great Lakes scored seven times. Sloppy play doomed the TinCaps as two runs scored via two wild pitches. Fort Wayne also had an error on the day. It was a shortened seven-inning affair due to the doubleheader. That didn’t stop Great Lakes from reaching double-digit runs.

Fort Wayne TinCaps Game 2 (Lost to Great Lakes Loons 5-1)

Nik McClaughry: (1-for-2), 2B, RBI

Devin Ortiz: (1-for-2)

Enmanuel Pinales: 4 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 4 K

In the second half of the doubleheader, the Loons continued where they left off. Yunior Garcia hit a two-run homer off of Pinales. The TinCaps cut the deficit to one in the fourth with an RBI double by McClaughry. That would be as close as they would get. Great Lakes scored once in the sixth and twice in the seventh to seal the win.

Lake Elsinore Storm (Lost 10-8 to Rancho Cucamonga Quakes)

Leodalis De Vries: (2-for-4), 2B, BB, SB

Jose Sanabria: (3-for-5), 3 RBI

Dillon Head: (2-for-5), R, RBI

Jose Luis Reyes: 3 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

This game was scoreless through 2 1/2 innings. Jeral Perez broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the third for the Quakes with a two-run homer. While the Storm responded with one a half inning later, the Quakes got two more in the fourth. Lake Elsinore pitching allowed runs in five different innings, ending with three in the seventh. Jose Sanabria drove in three runs with three singles, but it wasn’t enough to overcome what, at one point, was a 10-3 deficit.
