San Diego FC will travel to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park this Saturday for Matchday 8 of the 2025 MLS season, where they’ll take on the Colorado Rapids for the first time in club history.

Fresh off two commanding home wins, 2-0 over LAFC and a 3-0 statement against the Seattle Sounders, San Diego FC will aim to carry that momentum into the altitude of Commerce City. The team’s confidence is high, and their style of play is beginning to take shape with each match.

Chucky’s Return Sparks the Attack

Designated Player Hirving “Chucky” Lozano made his long-awaited return to the starting XI last weekend, and it didn’t take long for him to remind fans what he brings to the pitch. One goal and two assists later, Lozano had a hand in every one of San Diego’s goals against Seattle. His chemistry with Ingvartsen and Dreyer gives Mikey Varas a lethal front three: quick, creative, and relentless.

Fast Starts, Fierce Midfields

It took just 81 seconds for captain Jeppe Tverskov to put San Diego on the board against Seattle, scoring the fastest goal in club history and setting the tone early. With Aníbal Godoy and Lozano adding two more before halftime, San Diego FC recorded back-to-back first halves with three goals, a sign of growing confidence and sharp execution.

In midfield, de la Torre and Dreyer continue to pull the strings, while Godoy’s leadership and calm presence bring balance to the team’s high-press system. Dreyer, who now has three goals and two assists this season, is proving to be one of the most impactful signings in the league.

Tough Terrain, Big Opportunity

Saturday will mark San Diego FC’s second road win if they can get the job done, but it won’t be easy. Colorado’s high altitude and unfamiliar pitch will test Varas’ squad. Defensive consistency has been key this season, with CJ Dos Santos, McVey, and Tverskov playing every minute so far. Dos Santos now has three clean sheets under his belt and is emerging as a vocal leader between the posts.

San Diego’s bench depth has also been a difference-maker. Ten different players have already found the net this season, showcasing the versatility and hunger across the squad.

Watch Party Vibes Back Home

For fans who cannot make the trip to Colorado, SDFC is hosting an official Watch Party at AleSmith Brewing in San Diego. From 5 to 9 p.m., supporters can enjoy DJ sets, giveaways, raffle prizes, and the first 100 beers for free.

And hey—I’ll be there, too! I’ll be meeting fans, talking SDFC, and doing some live interviews during the event. So whether you’re hyped about Chucky’s comeback, Godoy’s midfield command, or just the free beer, come hang out and be part of the action.
