Padres Down on the Farm: September 4 (Pinales solid for FW/Edwards Jr. K’s 10, Lockridge 5 hits for EP)
San Diego Padres affiliates went 2-2 on Tuesday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 7-6 over Reno) (53-81 on the season)
Brandon Lockridge– (5-for-5) 2 2B, 2 RBI, Run, SB
Brett Sullivan– (3-for-4) Run, RBI, BB
Carl Edwards Jr.– 6 IP, 3 ER, 3 BB, 10 K (98 pitches- 68 strikes)
The Chihuahuas held on for a 7-6 win on the road against Reno. A catcher interference call on Brandon Valenzuela almost doomed El Paso in the 9th inning. Austin Davis was able to overcome the error as the lefty earned his 11th save of the season for the Chihuahuas. Carl Edwards Jr. started the game and went six innings, striking out 10 batters in the contest.
Outfielder Brandon Lockridge went 5-for-5 in the win and doubled twice for El Paso. Brett Sullivan was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI. Eguy Rosario homered in the game and has 20 on the year in El Paso. Bryce Johnson was 2-for-5 in the game.
San Antonio Missions (Won 8-6 over Tulsa) (56-70 on the season)
Anthony Vilar– (2-for-4) 2B, 2 Runs, RBI
Marcos Castanon– (1-for-5) HR, Run, 3 RBI, 3 K
Sam Whiting– 3 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, BB, 4 K (62 pitches- 37 strikes)
The Missions scored two runs in the top of the 9th inning, which was the difference in the game. A fielder’s choice and a throwing error resulted in the two runs for San Antonio. Anthony Vilar doubled in four at-bats, scoring two runs. Marcos Castanon hit his 12th homer of the season in the loss. Josh Mears was 0-for-4 with a strikeout in the win.
Sam Whiting started the game, and the 23-year-old right-handed pitcher went three innings, allowing just one earned ru; Jacksonn Wolf threw two scoreless innings for the Missions. Ryan Och earned the win as he recorded the last five out of the game.
Fort Wayne TinCaps (Lost 2-1 to South Bend) (52-76 on the season)
Nerwillian Cedeno- (2-for-3) 2B
Nick Vogt– (1-for-2) Run, BB, K
Enmanuel Pinales– 6 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K (86 pitches- 50 strikes)
The TinCaps lost a close game in Fort Wayne as South Bend was victorious 2-1. Enmanuel Pinales started the game and went six solid innings, striking out three batters. Pinales owns a 3.49 ERA so far this season. Will Varmette was charged with the loss as he gave up the deciding run in the game.
Nick Vogt scored a run and was 1-for-2 in the game. Nerwillian Cedeno recorded two hits in the loss and is hitting .215 on the season. The TinCaps struck out 12 times as a team led by Rosman Verdugo, who was 0-f0r-4 and had four punchouts in the game.
Lake Elsinore Storm (Won 7-4 over Inland Empire) (70-56 on the season)
Kai Roberts– (2-for-4) Run, RBI, BB, SB, 2 K
Sean Barnett– (2-for-4) 2B, 2 Runs, K
Javier Chacon– 5 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 3 K
The Storm got out to a 7-0 lead after three innings and did not look back in a 7-4 win over Inland Empire. Javier Chacon was solid, throwing five innings and allowing two earned runs. His ERA is 3.61 on the season. Luis German struck out the side in the ninth for his second save of the season. The 22-year-old right-handed pitcher topped out at 101 mph on Wednesday and has an exciting future.
Kai Roberts was 2-for-4 in the win with an RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. Sean Barnett doubled and scored two runs for the Storm. Lamar King Jr. drove in three runs and was 1-for-3 in the game.
