Xolos Femenil Seek First Win Against Morelia After Strong Performance Against Veracruz
Game: Monarcas Morelia Femenil vs Xolos Femenil
When: Saturday, February 24, 2018
Where: Estadio Morelos, Morelia, Michoacán, Mexico
Time: 10:30 P.M. PST
Xolos Femenil will look for their first win in the Liga MX Femenil Clausura 2018 this Saturday when the team visits Monarcas Morelia.
The two teams played each other in Week 1 of the tournament and had an exciting 2-2 tie at the Estadio Caliente. Samantha Arellano and Cristina Juarez scored the goals for Club Tijuana in that game while Karla Jimenez and Dalia Molina provided the goals for La Monarquia.
Both teams have struggled this season. Xolos Femenil is only at two points, while Morelia only has three after seven games.
Neither team has won this season and will look for that first win in this match. Xolos Femenil is coming from a 1-1 result versus Veracruz at the Estadio Caliente in Week 7. That draw was easily the border city team’s best performance this season and there were a few players that stood out.
Rosa Aguiar scored the goal for Andrea Rodebaugh’s side and had an excellent game, looking dangerous throughout the contest. Striker Arlina Montes, who received her first start, also looked solid against Veracruz and should get another chance to play in this game. Andrea Rodebaugh has plenty of exciting and interesting players on her squad and should be able to come away with at least a point from this match.
Monarcas Morelia has three ties and four losses this season, the most impressive result being a 0-0 tie against Pumas UNAM. The team from Michoacán is coming off a 1-1 draw against Cruz Azul at home and will look to get some points from this match.
Veronica Hernandez’s team has some decent players, including Dalia Molina and Eleisa Santos, who have two goals each in the Clausura 2018 so far. The game has potential to be an exciting clash in this Week 8 of Liga MX Femenil action.
Xolos arguably have a better squad, but Morelia will have the home-field advantage at the Estadio Morelos. The prediction is a 1-1 tie, with both teams still searching for their first win in the competition after the encounter.
