It will be a busy Monday in the Liga MX Femenil as there will be five games including the match between Xolos Femenil and Veracruz.
The border city team is still in search of its first win of the season now six games into the Liga MX Femenil Clausura 2018.
The Xolos women’s team is dead last in the league with just a point but can abandon that position with a win against Veracruz. There is definitely talent on Club Tijuana’s roster from top to bottom but the Aztec Canines have just struggled to achieve the results. Goalkeeper Itzel Gonzalez has had some solid performances recently as well as the defense led by captain Ana Lara.
Patricia Gutierrez is back to lead the midfield as well, which is thrilling news for Andrea Rodebaugh. The attack, like the Xolos men’s team has been the problem as they have not scored in their last three Liga MX Femenil games. There are some exciting and talented players on Andrea Rodebaugh’s team like Layzha Garcia, Sheila Pulido and Cristina Juarez but the team has lacked something going forward. The Xolos latest defeat was a disappointing 1-0 loss against a struggling Cruz Azul team in Mexico City. The Xoloitzcuintles will now try to turn things around and go for that elusive first win of the season.
This game will be harder than it seems as Las Tiburonas have been solid this season with nine points so far.
The most surprising result for Las Jarochas was a 1-0 win against Pachuca in Week 1 of the tournament and the team also has wins against Cruz Azul and Monarcas Morelia. The team is led by Rodolfo Vega, who had a short playing career from 1992-1993 with Pumas UNAM but has been coaching professionally for a while now. The 43-year-old coached Veracruz’s U15 team from 2015-2017 before taking over the women’s team in the birth of the Liga MX Femenil last year.
Los Tiburones Rojos made several changes this transfer window, adding 11 players and letting go of 10. The changes seem to have helped Veracruz but it is still a very beatable side in this league. Los Escualos only have three goals so far this season but have proven to be an ordered side that is tough to break down. Xolos Femenil will have the home-field advantage, which they should try to utilize the best they can. The prediction for the match is a 1-1 draw in a game that should be very intense as the Xolos will look for their first win in this Clausura 2018.
