Xolos Femenil End Clausura 2018 On a High With 4-0 Win Versus Veracruz
Xolos Femenil wrapped up their Liga MX Femenil Clausura 2018 on Saturday with their best performance of the season.
Club Tijuana came away with a 4-0 win versus Veracruz at the Luis “Pirata” Fuente to end the tournament on a high note. Inglis Hernandez started off the festivities with a goal in the 23rd minute, then shortly after in the 24th minute, Sheila Pulido gave the border city team a 2-0 lead.
The score stayed the same for the rest of the first half, but as soon as the second half started, Inglis Hernandez scored her second goal of the match.
Finally, in the 76th minute, Rosa Aguiar scored her third goal of the season to make it a 4-0 game in the port city. The score remained at 4-0 in Tijuana’s favor and Xolos Femenil came away with their second win of the competition to end the semester.
The win was easily the Xolos’ best display of the tournament. The only other win was a slim 1-0 win against Monarcas Morelia. Veracruz is a much better team than Morelia, having finished the Clausura 2018 with 18 points to Morelia’s three, and the performance was obviously much more dominant from Xolos Femenil.
The explosiveness of Tijuana’s attack was the standout factor in the matchup, but the defense and goalkeeper Itzel Gonzalez also have to be given credit. The clean sheet was the fourth of the season for the border city team, which is quite an impressive number in this league.
The three points from the game helped the Xoloitzcuintles stay in seventh place on the Group 1 table and moved Andrea Rodebaugh’s team to 12th place on the general table.
The Aztec Canines finished the season ahead of Necaxa, Leon, Atlas, and Monarcas Morelia on the general table.
