Winter League Report: January 10 (Tatis Hits Walk-Off Three-Run Home Run)
Thursday, January 10
Only three players representing the San Diego Padres suited up for their various teams in the offseason winter leagues.
Here is a brief recap of how they performed:
Australian League
While there were some games played in the Australian League, no Padres played in any of the games.
Dominican League
Fernando Tatis Jr: 2-5, HR, 4 RBI, R, 2 K
The biggest hit of the night belonged to Fernando Tatis Jr. Tied 3-3 in the tenth inning and in a 0-2 count, Tatis slammed a pitch for a long three-run home run. Tatis celebrated with a bat flip while his teammates eagerly mobbed him at the plate. Look forward to his energetic level of play in the coming months when he reaches the majors.

Mexican League
No games were scheduled to be played
Puerto Rican League
Aldemar Burgos: 0-5, K
If there is a bright side to Burgos’ performance, it is that he only struck out once and didn’t make any errors in right field. He has struggled so far in the Puerto Rican league, but he is young enough to learn from his failures and turn them into successes.
Venezuelan League
Luis Torrens: 0-4, K
Torrens didn’t do much at the plate, striking out once in four appearances. He wasn’t challenged behind the plate as no runners attempted to steal on him.
