The sheriff returns as Paddack dominates Giants in 5-3 Padres win

Chris Paddack needs to be better.
If you ask him, he would tell you that fact. His season has full of ups and downs, and that is not how Paddack wants to be known in the major leagues. Like most young pitchers, he seeks consistency. The right-handed pitcher has looked dominant at times this season, and he has also looked terrible.
The Padres got the dominant force on Thursday, as Paddack worked fast and wasted no time in dispatching the San Francisco Giants on 92 pitches and seven innings. He struck out eight in the game and walked one in the contest. Paddack lowered his season ERA to 3.69 in his rookie season.
The bullpen supported Paddack as Matt Strahm, and Andres Munoz were able to hold the lead. Each pitcher bent a little, as both allowed a run in their inning of work, but they were able to record three outs for the Padres win. Andres Munoz recorded his first major league save in the win.
Manuel Margot got the team started the right way as he slugged a two-run homer in the 3rd inning off or Giants’ starter Dereck Rodriguez. The Padres added another run in the inning as Eric Hosmer doubled home Josh Naylor to make it a 3-0 game.

Austin Hedges homered in the 4th to make it 4-0, and the Padres did not look back.
The only blemish for Paddack was a solo homer off the bat of Brandon Belt.
Game two of the series is on Friday as Dinelson Lamet will face Madison Bumgarner and the Giants. 7:15 game time.
