San Diego Loyal SC 2022 schedule release
San Diego Loyal SC announced their 2022 season schedule Wednesday. The 34-match schedule begins March 12 when the Loyal host LA Galaxy II at Torero Stadium. Alongside rivals such as Phoenix Rising FC, Sacramento Republic FC, and 2021 USL Championship final winners Orange County SC, San Diego will play host to other stalwarts of the USL Championship.
Eastern Conference foes will be coming to Torero this season, such as Charleston Battery on April 9, 2-time champions Louisville City FC on April 16, Hartford Athletic on June 11, and Indy Eleven on June 25. San Antonio FC, the team that bounced SD Loyal from the playoffs in 2021, will come to town on August 6.
Away games for SD Loyal include new destinations as the league schedule opens up compared to the last two seasons. Some of these feature trips include two trips to Orange County SC’s aptly named Championship Soccer Stadium, 2020 and 2021 Eastern Conference Champions Tampa Bay Rowdies, Birmingham Legion and their newly built stadium, and a rematch of the playoff loss to San Antonio FC.
With the Loyal facing each conference opponent twice within their schedule they will have to face multiple teams three times in order to fill out their schedule to 34 games. This season will feature LA Galaxy II and Orange County SC playing SD Loyal three times each, with San Diego hosting LA twice.
San Diego Loyal SC’s longest homestand of the season will occur between June 11 when they host Hartford Athletic and June 29 when Orange County comes to play. This homestand will come at a great time in the season as SD Loyal will be finishing a 3-game road trip which sees them going from Rio Grande Valley FC, LA Galaxy II, and ending with New York Red Bulls II. The club will indeed be tested late into the season, as we will see San Diego going on the road for seven of their last 10 matches this season.

The entire San Diego Loyal SC schedule is available. Their preseason opener against New Mexico United FC and Central Valley Fuego FC on February 5 is right around the corner. A tall task awaits, although one that this club looks ready to take on.
