The San Diego Loyal will play their second game of a four-game road trip this Saturday, July 1, against Indy Eleven at Michael A. Carroll Stadium.
The Loyal are on a dismal five-game winless streak coming off a 2-1 loss against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
The Southern California team was winning the game 1-0, but Pittsburgh tied the game, then went on to score a late winner in stoppage time. Adrien Perez scored the lone goal of the game against the Riverhounds and has scored a goal in each of the Loyal’s last two contests.
Perez has scored four goals this season, which is good for third-best on the squad, just behind Ronaldo Damus and Evan Conway with five goals each. Offensive production has been steady for the Loyal this season, but the backline has allowed 23 goals so far, which is tied for fourth most in the USL Championship.
San Diego are sixth in the USL Championship with 23 points but have the potential to move up on the table to fourth place with a win from this match.

Indy Eleven has had a bit of a similar season as the Loyal, currently seventh place in the Eastern Conference with 19 points, but with a game in hand on San Diego. The team from Indiana is coming off a 2-0 win against Hartford Athletic away from home after losing 2-1 against Birmingham.
Team captain Sebastian Guenzatti has been the standout player for Indy Eleven with three goals and two assists in 15 games played. The backline for Indy Eleven has been very solid recently, allowing a goal or less in its last six games.
San Diego is in urgent need of a win from this game, and this is a golden opportunity to get the three points, as Indy Eleven has been one of the worst home teams in the league, with just one win from seven games. The Loyal only have two wins from eight road games this season, but if it was ever a time to start to get back on track, it would be with a win from this match.
