San Diego FC sign Mexican goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega
San Diego FC added another player to its roster as the club signed Pablo Sisniega on Friday.
Sisniega is 29 and was born in Mexico City.
He spent the last two seasons in the USL Championship League. The 6-foot-2 keeper played this past season with San Antonio FC, who had many battles against San Diego Loyal. In 22 appearances, he saved 65 attempts with four clean sheets. He allowed 29 goals.
The veteran keeper spent three seasons with Los Angeles FC in the MLS from 2019-2021. He has experience in the league, which could be valuable for the franchise. Before LAFC, the keeper played for Real Sociedad B, which is the reserve team to Real Sociedad, making 38 appearances.
Interestingly, Sisniega is Mexican but has never played professionally in Mexico. He played in Guadalajara out of the youth academy but never in the LIGA MX.
The roster for San Diego continues to grow as the inaugural season is near.
Here is a video of Sisniega in action last year with San Antonio.
San Diego FC will play its first game in franchise history on February 23 against LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.
CJ Dos Santos and Jacob Jackson are the other two goalkeepers on the roster. It is unclear where Sisniega fits in right now, but he will indeed be given an opportunity to earn playing time. There will surely be more additions in the coming weeks.
The season is around the corner, and it is exciting to know that Major League Soccer will be in San Diego.
Go out and support the San Diego FC. 2025 will be a great season.
