San Diego FC will host Seattle Sounders at Snapdragon Stadium for a match in the seventh matchday of the 2025 MLS season.
SDFC is coming off a huge 3-2 win against LAFC in what was San Diego’s first-ever home win.
Christopher McVey, Onni Valakari and Alex Mighten score the goals that led to this victory. Valakari was really a standout in this match as he also provided the assist on Mighten’s goal.
Christopher McVey also put in a busy performance in the backline along with his goal. Jeppe Tverskov and Anibal Godoy also really put in some work what was a grueling midfield clash between both sides.
Mikey Varas provided an injury update on forwards Marcus Ingvartsen, Emmanuel Boateng and defender Andrés Reyes, @EVT_News:
Ingvartsen: Out for weeks, timeline TBD
Boateng: Minor hamstring, 15-20 days
Reyes: Will be available on the bench pic.twitter.com/2041o2gzV4

A lot of stability was brought back into the team with Godoy and Paddy McNair back in the starting 11. Mikey Varas also decided to bring Jasper Loffelsend and Franco Negri back into the lineup, both of whom added more offensive prowess going forward.
Hirving “Chucky” Lozano played just over 12 minutes in this match, returning from a lower-body injury. Lozano is expected to be available to start this match, but it is unclear if Varas will plug him straight into the lineup. SDFC is still dealing with some significant injuries, as Emmanuel Boateng and Marcus Ingvartsen will be unavailable for this match.
However, in surprising news, Andres Reyes will be available off the bench for this match. Reyes was touted as one of San Diego’s major signing this offseason, but it is unclear if he will immediately make the 11 with both Christopher McVey and Paddy McNair finding success.
Milan Iloki was brought in on a loan deal from FC Nordsjaelland to try and fill in the injury gap. The San Diego native is an attacker that has the ability and versatility to play across all of the attacking front.
San Diego FC added forward Milan Iloski yesterday, adding much-needed depth to the attack. I asked Iloski to describe his style of play, @EVT_News:

Seattle is winless in its last four games in all competitions, coming off a 1-1 draw against San Jose Earthquakes. The Sounders are 12th in the Western Conference with six points and have struggled to generate offense.
Seattle has scored eight goals this season, but five of those goals came in a massive 5-2 win against LAFC. The Sounders have only scored a goal in their last three MLS games with Jesus Ferreira really struggling with no goals scored this season.
With major injuries to Jordan Morris, Pedro de la Vega, and Chula Vista native Paul Arriola, the offensive production is suffering. Albert Rusnak is really the player that has to step up with these injuries and he has not done a bad job with two goals and three assists on the year.

Seattle has controlled possession in most of its games this season, but this is very unlikely to happen at Snapdragon Stadium. The backline comprised of Nouhou Tolo, Jackson Ragen, Yeimar Gomez and veteran goalkeeper Stefan Frei is really expected to be tested in this match.
San Diego seems to have several factors in its favor to come away with the three points from this match. Snapdragon Stadium enjoyed a sell-out crowd of over 32 thousand spectators against LAFC, and another big crowd is expected for this match.
