This Wednesday, April 2, San Diego FC officially announced that Milan Iloski was joining the club on loan.

The San Diego native is joining the SDFC sister club, FC Nordsjaelland, from the Danish Superliga.

The loan deal is only through July 2025, but it will help fill in the gap that Marcus Ingvartsen has left with his injury. Ingvartsen picked up an injury in the game against Columbus Crew on March 15 and is expected to miss several months ahead.

Hirving Lozano is just coming back from an injury, but Emmanuel Boateng has also been sidelined recently. San Diego FC used all its resources here and took advantage of the partnership with FC Nordsjaelland to fill in this gap.

Iloski played soccer at UCLA before beginning his professional career with Real Salt Lake in 2020. Iloksi went on to play with MLS Next Pro side Real Monarchs and and really shined at Orange County SC in the USL Championship.

The Escondido, Calif. native scored 38 goals for Orange County in 62 appearances, but has had a more limited role at FC Nordsjaelland. Iloski has played in 16 games for the Danish club this season, but none have been as a starter.

I'd like this amount to

The 25-year-old forward has scored two goals this season and will look for more consistent playing time at San Diego. Even with the Ingvartsen injury, there is plenty of competition in the attack with Tomas Angel, Hirving Lozano, Alex Mighten, and Onni Valakari. It seems that head coach Mikey Varas has found confidence in the current attacking line, but Varas has proven he is not afraid to make sudden changes.

SDFC Sporting Director Tyler Heaps commented on what Iloski has to offer. “Milan is an attacker who has proven he can score goals and impact the game in the final third throughout his career”, said Heaps.

Iloski, at the very least, offers some depth for a club that needs it with the current injuries. He is not a direct replacement for Ingvartsen as he does not possess the same physical prowess as the Danish forward. However, he has proven to be versatile the the attacking third and that he has the ability to be an impact substitution.
