Padres Winter League Report: October 20 (Ivan Castillo three hits in D.R.)
Here is a look at what took place around the globe on Sunday, in the winter leagues, as it pertains to the San Diego Padres.
Arizona Fall League
Logan Driscoll– (0-3) BB, K
The left-handed catcher is now hitting .500 on the season after a 0-for-3 game on Sunday. He has shown excellent bat control early in his professional career and adds another catcher to the Padres’ system, which is full of backstop talent.
Dominican Winter League
Ivan Castillo– (3-5) 2 Runs, RBI, BB, Run
The Padres’ minor league infielder is off to an 11-for-32 start in the Dominican Republic. He has struck out ten times, which is a bit alarming but has put up a .739 OPS for the Leones. Castillo won the Texas League batting title and is someone who might need protection in the Rule 5 draft.
Josh Naylor– (1-1)
The Padres allowed Naylor to play in the D.R, and he has been pretty impressive. He has recorded a .976 OPS for the Leones after a 1-for-1 game on Sunday. He has been playing the outfield consistently as he looks to improve in his defensive game.
Eguy Rosario– (0-1)
Rosario is hitting .125 on the season for the Toros del Este. He entered the game on Sunday as a pinch hitter and went 0-for-1. The minor league infielder is trying to boost his value before he heads into the 2020 season.
Mexican Winter League
Rodrigo Orozco– (2-3) HR, RBI, Run, BB
Orozco is playing for the Tomateros de Culiacan and is off to a .429 start on the year. He started at DH on Sunday and went 2-for-3 with a homer, RBI and a run in the Mexican League. The outfielder player the 2019 season with Amarillo and El Paso.
