Padres Winter League Report: November 30 (Mejia 2 Hits in D.R.)
There were several men in action around the globe on Friday.
Here is a recap of the day’s events:
Dominican winter league
Franchy Cordero– (1-3) 3B, Run, 2 BB, K
Franchy has been playing well and has been batting in the middle of the Leones’ lineup on a daily basis. The left-handed hitter is hitting .321 on the season and showing no effects of an elbow injury that sidelined him at the end of 2018.
Fernando Tatis Jr.– (1-4) BB, Run
Tatis was hitting third on Friday for the Estrellas and went 1-for-4 with a run. He is hitting .261 in the D.R. this season and is playing really well. Tatis should be in the majors at some point in 2019. His development is right on track for the Padres.
Francisco Mejia– (2-4) Run, RBI, SB, K
The switch-hitting catcher is batting .256 on the year. He was serving as the Estrellas’ DH on Friday in the Dominican.

Puerto Rican winter league
Aldemar Burgos– (1-5) Run
Burgos was batting leadoff and went 1-for-5 with a run on Friday. He is hitting .359 on the island of Puerto Rico and could turn into a viable prospect. The Padres need more offensive players to establish themselves, so this is a great thing.

Gettys is at .314 for the season, but is still struggling with the strikeout (9 K’s in 35 at-bats) in the ABL.
