The San Diego Padres winter league report is here for November 30.

There are several men in action throughout the globe for the San Diego Padres, even though it is the winter.

Here is a look at the day’s events.

Dominican Winter League

Ivan Castillo– (1-5) RBI

Castillo recorded another hit on Saturday and is batting .257 on the season. The infielder batted second and played third base for the Leones in the D.R. The switch-hitter has excellent plate discipline and could eventually be a factor for playing time in San Diego at the keystone position.

Webster Rivas– (0-3) K

The backup catcher played in consecutive games for the Gigantes de Cibao in the last two days. The right-handed hitter is hitting .120 on the season and batted last for his team on Saturday in a 0-for-3 effort. Rivas provides the Padres with a plus defender in the minor leagues among all these young talented offensive-minded catchers.

Mexican Winter League

No players in action

Puerto Rican Winter League

Michael Gettys– (1-4) K

Gettys went 1-for-4 on Saturday with another strikeout. He is hitting .200 on the season for the Indios de Mayaguez. The outfielder started the game in right field and batted in the middle of the lineup. The right-handed hitter is blessed with many offensive talents but needs to put the ball in play more.

Australian Baseball League

Jonny Homza– (2-4) HR, 2B, Run, 3 RBI

Homza is up to .217 on the season after a slow start in Australia. He was batting second for the Auckland Tuatara on Saturday (Sunday morning-Australia time). He responded with two extra-base hits, including his first home of the year for the Tuatara. Homza has a quick swing and should be a decent offensive producer from behind the plate when his development is all said and done.

Jarryd Dale– (1-3) 2B, 2 K

Dale doubled in three at-bats but still has a .095 batting average on the season for the Melbourne Aces. The native Australian is struggling with the bat, and some feel he will never advance in the system. There is time for Dale, but he is struggling as a player.

Jordy Barley– (3-6) 2 Runs, RBI, K

Playing for the Canberra Cavalry, Barley has shown a very versatile effort. The infielder has played all over the diamond and is swinging a promising bat in Australia. Barley is now hitting .270 on the ABL season.

Taylor Kohlwey– (2-4) HR, RBI, 3 Runs, BB, K

The left-handed hitter plays on most days for Canberra. Kohlwey’s slow rise through the Padres’ system might eventually result in playing time for San Diego. He is hitting .222 on the year.
