Padres Winter League Report: January 3 (Gettys Stays Hot in Australian League)
There were five total Padres players who played in an offseason league on Thursday.
Here is a recap of how they did:
Australian League
Michael Gettys: (2-5), 3B, Run, 3 RBI
With his two hits today, Gettys now has hit safely in five of his last six games. Manning right field, Gettys increased his batting average to .311 and has shown more patience at the plate with a .398 on-base percentage so far. Expect Gettys to begin his season in either Double-A Amarillo or Triple-A El Paso.
Dominican League
Franchy Cordero: (2-5), Run, 2 RBI, K
Batting cleanup, Cordero picked up two hits and a couple RBI, continuing his solid season in the Dominican League. He will look to fight for a spot on the 25-man roster come spring training and prove that he is fully healthy.
Fernando Tatis Jr. (1-4), 3B, SB
The prized shortstop continues to do nothing but hit in the three-spot, slapping another triple while showing off his wheels sprinting to third and stealing a base. Padres fans will get to see him at some point in 2019.

Mexican League
There were no games played today in the Mexican League
Venezuelan League
Luis Torrens: (2-4), 3 Runs, BB, K
Batting seventh, Torrens played first base before moving to his original position at first base. The former Rule 5 pick will continue to develop in the minor leagues and isn’t expected in the Majors barring an emergency situation.
Puerto Rican League
Aldemar Burgos: (1-4), Run, 2B,
After hitting a home run last game, Burgos got another extra-base hit today with a double. He struggled at Fort Wayne, albeit in a small sample size, so it is good to see him performing adeptly in the offseason.
