A total of four men were in action around the globe as the winter season is winding down.
Here is a recap of the day’s action:
Australian Baseball League
Michael Gettys– (0-4) 3 K, Error
Gettys struck out three times on Friday in four at-bats in Australia. He also made his second error (throwing) in the game. The outfielder is down to .300 on the season for the Bite in the ABL.
Mexican baseball league
Esteban Quiroz– (2-5) HR, 2 RBI, 2 Runs, K
The little, power-hitting infielder blasted a homer on Friday. He has surprising power for his size and could be a delight to watch for Padres fans.
Venezuelan baseball league
Luis Torrens– (2-4) Run, BB
Torrens has been playing a lot of first base this winter, and that is where he was on Friday. He went 2-for-4 in the game. The catcher has a chance to start the year in Amarillo and could be used in an emergency if the major league teams needs a catcher.
Puerto Rican winter league
Aldemar Burgos– (1-3) BB
The right-handed-hitting outfielder recorded one hit in three at-bats on Friday. He also walked one in the game. Burgos has been in a bit of a slump after starting the year playing well in Puerto Rico.
Dominican winter league
No scheduled games
