Padres Winter League Report: December 22 (Tatis Homers Again in D.R. Playoffs)
Fernando Tatis is a monster and Padres fans have every right to be excited about his future.
The shortstop homered again in the D.R. playoffs and continues to showcase his excellent skill.
Here is a recap of the day’s events:
Australian Baseball League
Michael Gettys- (1-7) 2 BB, SB, Run, RBI, 3 K’s
After going 1-for-7 in a doubleheader, Gettys is at .301 on the season. He has recorded a 1.018 OPS in 83 at-bats in the ABL.
Kelvin Melean- (0-2) BB
Melean is batting .203 on the season after an 0-for-2 game. He was batting ninth and playing second base for the Cavalry.
Justin Lopez- (0-5) 2 K
Melean’s teammate in the ABL is Lopez who is hitting .183. He was playing shortstop and batting second on Saturday morning.
Jarryd Dale- (1-6) 2 K
The Australian native continues to struggle with the bat in the ABL. He went 1-for-6 in a doubleheader on Saturday and is hitting .143 on the year.
Venezuelan winter league
Luis Torrens- (0-1)
Torrens appeared in the game as a pinch runner. He remained in at catcher and is hitting .304 on the year in Venezuela.
Puerto Rican winter league
Aldemar Burgos- (3-4) HR, 2B, 3 RBI, Run
Burgos finished a double shy of a cycle in Puerto Rico on Saturday. He is hitting .282 on the year. Burgos has put up a .786 OPS in 78 at-bats so far this winter league season.
Dominican winter league
Fernando Tatis Jr.- (1-4) HR, 3 RBI, Run
A fourth inning, three-run homer put the Estrellas up 8-1 and sealed the win for the Dominican team. Tatis batted leadoff on Saturday and was very impressive.
Francisco Mejia- (1-3) BB, Run
Mejia was batting sixth and catching for the Estrellas on Saturday. He went 1-for-3 with a run and a walk.
Franchy Cordero- (0-4) 3 K’s
Franchy was batting in the cleanup position but had an off night, going 0-for-4 with three K’s.

Mexican winter league
Esteban Quiroz- (0-3)
Quiroz is hitting .234 on the season now in Mexico after a 0-for-3 game. He committed his seventh error of the season (fielding) on Saturday.
