Padres Winter League Report: December 14 (Franchy Triples in D.R.)

Here is a recap of the day’s events:

Dominican winter league

Franchy Cordero– (1-4) 3B, 2 RBI, 2 K

Cordero is hitting .250 on the year in the D.R after a 1-for-4 game on Friday. He has struck out 33 times in 92 at-bats this season, which is still a bit of a concern. Franchy has a .723 OPS currently, even though he is in a bit of a slump (2-for-24).

Fernando Tatis Jr.– (1-4) BB, Run

Shortstop Fernando Tatis is hitting .263 for the Estrellas. He has recorded a .851 OPS so far this season.

Francisco Mejia– (1-4) RBI

Mejia went 1-for-4 on Friday and is hitting .233 on the year in the Dominican Republic.

Puerto Rican winter league

Aldemar Burgos– (0-4)

The right-handed-hitting Burgos is in a bit of a slump presently. He is hitting .250 on the year, but has now gone  1-for-20 in his last six games. He has put up .683 OPS so far this year on the island of Puerto Rico.

Venezuelan winter league

Luis Torrens– (0-4) 2 K

Torrens is hitting .333 on the year after a 0-for-4 game on Friday. He has recorded a .788 OPS in Venezuela and has been playing first base and catcher. He has only struck out seven times in 54 at-bats.

Australian Baseball League

Jarryd Dale– (0-2) K

Dale continues to struggle in the ABL. He came in as a pinch hitter on Friday and stayed in the game, going 0-for-2. He is hitting .100 on the year.

Justin Lopez– (1-4) 2 K

Infielder Justin Lopez is hitting .212 in Australia so far. He played shortstop on Friday for the Cavalry.

Kelvin Melean– (1-4) 2B K

Lopez’s teammate is hitting .204 in the ABL. He played second base on Friday.

Michael Gettys– (0-3) 3 K

The outfielder is at .333 for the season in Australia. He has put up a 1.142 OPS for the Bite so far. Gettys has slammed six homers and driven in 20 runs on the year. He has struck out 18 times in 66 at-bats.

Mexican winter league

Esteban Quiroz– (1-3) 2B, Run, K

The small infielder is hitting .255 on the year after a 1-for-3 performance on Friday in Mexico.
