Padres Winter League Report: December 13 (Gettys Stays Hot in ABL)
While the Dominican league was off today, there was still plenty of action around the globe today.
Here is a quick recap of how several members of the Padres did today:
Australian League
Michael Gettys: 1-3, 2B, 2 BB, K
After avoiding getting selected in the Rule 5 draft, Gettys went right back to work. His double gave him a seven-game hitting streak and raised his batting average to .329. He batted cleanup and played right field.
Justin Lopez: 0-4, 2 K
Lopez has been struggling in his last ten games as he has gone 7-41 in his past ten games. He started at shortstop and batted second while striking out twice.
Kelvin Melean: 0-4, K
Melean has struggled to get his bat warmed up in the Australian league as he is now hitting .200 after going 0-4. He batted eighth in the lineup and manned second base.
Mexican League
Esteban Quiroz: 1-3, BB, K
Quiroz extended his hitting streak to five his base hit single. He now has ten hits in his last 29 at-bats over a ten-game course. He batted fifth and played second base for the Caneros de Los Mochis.
Venezuelan League
Luis Torrens: 2-3, 2B, 3 RBI, BB
Torrens has been wreaking havoc against the Venezuelan League, as his 2-3 day raised his batting average to .360 on the season. He batted third and was the designated hitter for the Navegantes de Magallanes.
