Padres News: Tyson Ross to D.L. with Shoulder Inflammation
Devastating news out of Colorado this afternoon as the San Diego Padres have placed their ace Tyson Ross on the 15 day D.L. with shoulder inflammation.
James Shields will start Sunday in Colorado and the team will make changes accordingly. The claiming of Brad Hand makes sense now as the team has a current open spot on their 25-man roster. Hand or Erlin could assume his spot in the rotation.

This is a huge loss for the Padres at the beginning of the year. It is not known yet the extent of his injury, but Ross did seem off slightly on his first start of the year. The D.L. move is retroactive to his opening day start, so the Padres will hope he only has to miss the minimum days.
Another devastating aspect to this news is the fact Ross hasn’t had any arm troubles in the past while being a member of the Padres. He had been rumored to be involved in many potential deals, but with this injury news his value takes a huge beating. The Padres will just have to pray that this is a minor injury and they will have their ace back very soon.
