We hit on the team’s last series in Cleveland, and the fact the Friars will be maddening to watch the whole season long. They are capable of winning any series, against anyone, but at the same time they are capable of laying an egg on virtually any night. The team is young. It happens.
The pitching performance of Trevor Cahill gives us some hope as we discuss his value on the trade market. He could fetch a decent prospect if he shows that his shoulder issues are behind him.
We speak about the recent troubles of Wil Myers again. I know, I know. It’s a difficult topic to hear about. There are some positives, and we speak about them. Also there are some interesting analytical numbers attached to his 2017 season.
For the Stats segment, we delve into Sprint Speed and talk about the Padres’ recent ranking as MLB’s fastest team.
In recent weeks the bullpen has really picked it up and we discuss some of the options for the team moving forward. Brad Hand is a hot trade topic, but Ryan Buchter, Craig Stammen, and Kirby Yates might also have some value. And we mustn’t forget Brandon Maurer, who has been pitching very well recently. The team has players of interest. We will have to wait and see what A.J. does.
For the minor league portion of the show, we talk about Michel Baez and Fernando Tatis Jr. Both are on a tear right now and each are worth noting as the Padres’ farm system starts to round the corner.
We fire off some rapid fire questions pertaining to Hunter Renfroe, Austin Hedges, Brad Hand, and the Padres’ future to close the podcast.

Can we talk about Javier Guerra? Kid is hitting .310/.341/.571 (13-42) in his last 10 starts, with 2 HR, 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 BB, and only 6 Ks. During this stretch, he has two three-hit games and has recorded a hit in 8 of the 10 games.
With what he’s been doing defensively compared to last season, plus what we all know he is capable of at Short, it’s great to see. Not saying he’s back to being a top 100 prospect because of two weeks, but it’s a fantastic start, as we know that he has a lot of talent.
