Padres Down on the Farm: September 14 (Sod Poodles force Game 5/LE eliminated from playoffs with extra-innings loss)
The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went 1-1 on Saturday.
Here is a brief recap of how they did.
Amarillo Sod Poodles (2-2) Won 3-0 (series tied 2-2)
Facing elimination, the Sod Poodles fought off the Drillers to force a Game 5. Solo home runs by Buddy Reed and Ivan Castillo provided Amarillo with more than enough runs to preserve the win. Starter Jesse Scholtens pitched five shutout innings while Jordan Guerrero and Travis Radke combined to pitch the remaining four innings to shutout Tulsa. Edward Olivares, who went 2-for-4 in the game, robbed a potential home run in the seventh inning.
