Padres Down on the Farm: September 11 (Tri-City loses game five/Sod Poodles and Storm both lose)
The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went 0-3 on Wednesday.
Here is a brief recap of the day’s action.
Amarillo Sod Poodles Lost 18-9 (series tied 1-1)
Despite scoring eight runs in the first inning, Amarillo allowed a whopping 12 runs to score in the first three innings. Jacob Nix took a majority of the damage, allowing nine runs on seven hits in just 1.2 innings on the mound. The rehabbing starter allowed four home runs as well as every Sod Poodle pitcher allowed at least one home run. Taylor Trammell had a triple and a three-run home run in the very first inning while Edward Olivares cranked a solo home run.

Lake Elsinore Storm Lost 2-1 (series tied 1-1)
Despite allowing only two runs, Reiss Knehr was saddled with the hard-luck loss despite a strong outing. The right-hander allowed the runs to score on six hits and three walks in 4.2 innings pitched. Deivy Mendez got the last out of the fifth inning before Efrain Contreras pitched four shutout innings while striking out one. Jeisson Rosario hit an RBI double in the third inning to drive in the only run of the game.

Tri-City Dust Devils Lost 3-1 (lost series 2-3)
With the loss today, the Dust Devils have been eliminated from the Northwest League playoffs. Starter Nick Thwaits allowed two runs on four innings while striking out one. Tri-City took an initial lead when Kelvin Melean hit an RBI single in the first inning, but it was the only run Tri-City scored. Melean and Nick Gatewood both went 2-for-4 in the loss.
