San Diego Padres affiliates went 1-0 on Saturday.
Here is a recap of the day’s events.
El Paso Chihuahuas (Won 10-2 vs. Oklahoma City) (51-78 on the season)
Daniel Camarena: 6 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 2 BB, 7 K (99 pitches, 65 strikes)
Yorman Rodriguez: (4-for-4), HR, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R, BB
Brian O’Grady: (2-for-5), HR, 3 RBI, 2 R, BB, K
Gosuke Katoh: (4-for-5), 2B, RBI, R
The Chihuahuas put together a great game, as Daniel Camarena pitched six strong innings to end his 2021 campaign. Nick Kuzia finished the game with a nine-out save, as the El Paso bats gave the pitchers plenty of cushion. Yorman Rodriguez, Brian O’Grady, and Pedro Florimon all homered, and Rodriguez and Gosuke Katoh each had four-hit days.
Rodriguez missed the cycle by a triple, and he reached base all five times he walked into the batter’s box. Katoh and O’Grady each picked up five total bases, although O’Grady did it with a long ball and a single, while Katoh slapped three singles and a double to earn his five bases. El Paso picked up 17 hits as a team, and all eight members of the starting lineup got at least one hit off one of the seven Dodgers pitchers that took the mound.
