Padres Down on the Farm: May 5 (Hollis grand slam for SA/Vela 10 Ks for FW/Mazara 15-game hit streak)

The Chihuahuas dropped a close game 2-1 in which the game was in a weather delay for over an hour. Heading into the delay, the Chihuahuas had a 1-0 lead thanks to an RBI double by Mazara, who extended his career-long hitting streak to 15 games. However, after the delay, El Paso could not hold the lead, giving up two runs in the seventh inning and failed to produce any offense after. El Paso starter Eshelman was fantastic, going five scoreless innings and striking out seven.

San Antonio Missions (Won 11-8 vs. Corpus Christi) (10-14 on the season)

The San Antonio Missions were in a back-and-forth battle with Corpus Christi on Thursday night, eventually defeating the Hooks 11-8. With the score tied at five in the bottom of the eighth, Rodriguez delivered a go-ahead two-run single that put the Missions up 7-5. The Missions would break things open in the top half of the ninth thanks to a grand slam by Hollis that put the Missions up 11-5. The Hooks made things interesting in the ninth by scoring three runs to cut the lead to three, but the Missions were able to close out the win thanks to the offense in the latter part of the game. With three hits, Hollis has seven hits in his last two games versus Corpus Christi.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (Won 4-3 vs. Wisconsin) (12-12 on the season)

The TinCaps broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the ninth inning with a pair of RBI singles, including a two-run single by Anthony Villar after a close game through the first eight innings. Though it was a struggle to hang on to the lead, as Wisconsin scored two in the bottom half of the ninth to pull within a run, the TinCaps held on for a 4-3 victory.

After falling down 4-0 early on, Lake Elsinore rallied back to walk-off Rancho Cucamonga 5-4 Thursday night. The Storm got home runs by Acosta and Luis to come back and tie the game, and then got a walk-off single with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to complete the comeback.
