Padres Down on the Farm: May 12 (Gettys with 2 Hits/Munoz Sharp for Amarillo)
San Diego Padres affiliates went 2-1 on Mother’s Day. The Fort Wayne TinCaps were off.
Here is a recap of the day’s events.
El Paso Chihuahuas (25-12) Lost 6-1 in Sacramento
The Chihuahuas lost on Mother’s Day, as Sacramento scored six unanswered runs in the game to take a 6-1 victory. Dietrich Enns got the start for El Paso and was decent in the game allowing four earned runs in 5.2 innings pitched. Carlos Torres and Eric Yardley relieved him in the game, but the offense just wasn’t doing much on the day. El Paso recorded just five hits in the game. Michael Getts recorded two of the hits himself from the leadoff spot. Just not a good performance from El Paso in this one.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (14-20) Won 4-2 in Corpus Christi
The Soddies took Sunday’s matchup in Corpus Christi by the score of 4-2. Starter Emmanuel Ramirez was effective, only allowing one earned run and the bullpen shut the door on the Hooks. Fireball pitcher Andres Munoz closed the game by striking out the side. He was clocked in the triple digits once again and looked to be taking the necessary steps to advance. He could be in Petco very soon if he keeps this up. Offensively, Amarillo knocked out nine base hits in the game. Every hitter except for Buddy Reed recorded a hit on the night. Reed has been in a horrible slump. His batting average is down to .168 on the year.

Rodrigo Orozco– (2-5) 2B, K

The Storm have been playing better of late and won Sunday’s matchup against San Jose. Caleb Boushley made a start and he went 4.2 innings before giving way to Elliot Ashbeck. Boushley struck out seven on the day and only allowed two hits. Fred Schlichtholz and JC Cosme pitched in relief for Lake Elsinore. Esteury Ruiz slammed his fourth homer of the year in a 2-for-3 showing at the plate. Jack Suwinski recorded two hits as did Luis Campusano.
