Padres Down on the Farm: July 21 (Bachar with a great start & Castillo with 18-game hitting streak for Soddies)
San Diego Padres affiliates went 3-4 on Sunday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (61-40) Lost 8-7
The Chihuahuas rallied for three runs in the seventh and eighth inning but were unable to plate a run in an 8-7 loss to the Albuquerque Isotopes. Tyler Higgins started the game and went two innings of one-run ball for El Paso. He was relieved by Jerry Keel who went four innings and allowed five earned runs to score. Keel was charged with the loss and now has a 7.50 ERA on the year. Travis Jankowski went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. Ty France went 3-for-4 with a double and Webster Rivas went 2-for-2 with a double in the loss.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (50-48) Won 7-0
Lake Bachar was on his “A” game for Sunday’s start in Amarillo as he held the Naturals in check for a 7-0 win. Bachar went 7 2/3 innings for the Soddies and struck out nine batters in the game. He has a 3.25 ERA now on the season for the Sod Poodles. Evan Miller got the last four out for the shutout win. Ivan Castillo has an 18-game hitting streak now in the Texas League after the second baseman went 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Edward Olivares hit his 16th homer of the year and now has a .878 OPS on the year for Amarillo.

Lake Elsinore Storm (51-48) Lost 6-2
The Storm lost to Visalia 6-2 on Sunday as the offense just could not get going. The pitching staff allowed five runs in the second to the Rawhide, and that was a huge factor. Caleb Boushley earns the loss after allowing six earned runs in five innings pitched. Javy Guerra threw a scoreless inning, and so did Franklin Van Gurp. Blake Rogers threw two innings and lowed his ERA to 2.25 on the year. Lake Elsinore only managed five hits in the game. Luis Campusano went 1-for-4 and is hitting .312 on the season in the Cal League.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (43-54) Won 8-7
A fielding error by Wander Javier off the bat of Jawuan Harris allowed Justin Lopez to score the winning run with one out in the ninth. The TinCaps won the game 8-7 over the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Cullen Dana started the game and went three innings pitched, allowing three earned runs to score. Austin Smith followed him allowing two earned runs in an inning pitched. The first-ever draft pick of A.J. Preller has struggled in his last ten games recording a 4.71 ERA. Adrian Martinez earned a win, pitching a scoreless inning and striking out three batters. 23-year-old Tyler Benson went 3-for-3 batting last for the TinCaps. Jawuan Harris and Justin Lopez recorded two hits in the victory.

Tri-City Dust Devils (16-21) Lost 10-1
Vancouver got two runs in the first and never looked back in 1a 10-1 win over the Dust Devils. Nick Thwaits allowed four earned in four innings pitched and now has a 4.68 ERA on the season. Dan Dallas lowered his ERA to 0.98 on the season after pitching two scoreless innings. Jake Sims was knocked around for six earned runs in 2/3 of an inning pitched on Sunday. His ERA jumped to 9.75 on the year. The Dust Devils only recorded five hits in the game. Matthew Acosta went 1-for-3 and is hitting .300 on the season.

AZL Padres 1 (16-11) Lost 10-4
The AZL Indians Blue team trounced the AZL 1 team by the score of 10-4. The Padres only managed seven hits in the game and struck out 13 times. Hudson Head went 0-for-4 with a walk and four strikeouts. Joshua Mears struck out three times but did homer in the loss as well. Lefty Jesus Gonzalez started the game and went 3 1/3 innings pitched for the Padres. He has a 6.56 ERA on the season. CJ Abrams went 1-f0r-4 in the loss and has a 1.111 OPS in Peoria.

AZL Padres 2 (18-9) Won 3-2
The AZL Padres walked off in the ninth in a 3-2 victory over the AZL White Sox. Angel Solarte homered with nobody out in a tie game to win it for the Padres. The 18-year-old outfielder from Venezuela displays a very quick bat from the right side of the plate. Solarte has a .835 OPS so far in the desert. Junior Perez hit his fourth homer of the year in the win. Alexuan Vega started the game and went four innings for the Padres. The 20-year-old, left-handed pitcher now has a 6.87 ERA on the season. Michell Miliano was awarded the win after pitching one inning of baseball. He allowed a run on two hits in his lone inning of work.
