San Diego Padres affiliates went 4-4 on Friday.

Here is a recap of the day’s events.

El Paso Chihuahuas (67-50) Won 15-12

The El Paso Chihuahuas scored a whopping ten runs in the bottom of the 9th to win dramatically on Friday against the Round Rock Express. Esteban “Pony” Quiroz hit a walk-off pinch-hit grand slam to give the Chihuahuas a win in a game that was amazing to watch. Felipe Paulino and Brenden McCurry were not able to get anything more than one out in the 9th inning as the Express coughed up a 12-5 lead. Austin Allen homered and scored twice in a 2-for-4 game. He has a .971 OPS now on the year. Jason Vosler also homered for the 17th time in the year. His home run tied the PCL record for team home runs in a season, and Quiroz’s blast set a new record. Infielder Matthew Batten was awarded a win after he threw a 1-2-3 top of the 9th for El Paso.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (62-53) Lost 2-1

Amarillo only managed three hits in a 2-1 loss to the Frisco RoughRiders. Brad Zunica homered, and Ivan Castillo provided the other two hits, and that was it for the Soddies. The team walked eight times in the game but went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. Taylor Trammell went 0-for-3 and continues to struggle with the bat. Lake Bachar made a start and went 7 1/3 innings for Amarillo. He has a 3.07 ERA this season in the Texas League.

Lake Elsinore Storm (60-56) Won 4-1

The Storm were victorious 4-1 on the road against the Inland Empire 66ers. Aaron Leasher improved to 10-6 on the season with a 3.14 ERA. He went six strong, allowing only one earned run on five hits. Javy Guerra earned his first save pitching a perfect 9th for Lake Elsinore. Jeisson Rosario homered for the second time in the season, and Gabriel Arias went 2-for-4 with a double. Arias has a .776 OPS so far this season in the Cal League.

Fort Wayne TinCaps (53-62) Lost 6-1

The offense was not there for Fort Wayne in a 6-1 loss to the Dayton Dragons on Friday. Cullen Dana allowed five earned runs in five innings pitched. The 2019 draft pick has a 5.21 ERA so far in 2019. Dylan Coleman continues to throw smoke. The right-handed pitcher threw two scoreless innings and was continually clocked in the high 90’s with his velocity. Franklin Van Gurp, acquired from the Giants for Alex Dickerson threw the last two innings for the Padres. Justin Lopez went 2-for-4, and catcher Juan Fernandez also recorded two hits in the loss. Infielder CJ Abrams was in San Diego getting an injured shoulder looked at by doctors. He will likely miss two weeks.

Tri-City Dust Devils (23-30) Lost 9-2

The Tri-City Dust Devils allowed five early runs to the Spokane Indians and could not respond in a 9-2 loss. The Dust Devils had Angel Acevedo on the mound, and he was not effective. The right-hander allowed five earned runs and was only able to record four outs in the game. Ramon Perez relieved him and pitched well, lowering his ERA to 4.55 on the year. Reinaldo Ilarazza and Kelvin Melean both had two hits in the loss. Logan Driscoll stayed hot, doubling in three at-bats. Driscoll is now 10for-37 (.324) in his last ten games.

AZL Padres 1 (25-16) Won 2-1

The AZL Padres won a close game 2-1 on Friday against the AZL Rangers team. Pedro Avila started the game and went five innings, striking out five batters, He has a 2.25 ERA in Peoria this season while rehabbing. Lefty Jesus Gonzalez releivedAvila and went four innings for the Padres. The 18-year-old fro Venezuela lowered his ERA to 5.94 on the season. Tirso Ornelas on rehab reworking his swing went 2-for-3. Every single member of the starting nine struck out in the game as the Padres totaled 12 in the contest.

AZL Padres 2 (29-13) Won 6-2

The AZL Padres 2 team were victorious on Friday by the score of 6-2 over the AZL White Sox. 18-year-old Mexican left-handed pitcher Fernando Sanchez started the game, and he went 4 2/3 innings pitched, striking out six. He has a 2.93 ERA and is yet another name to keep tabs on this coming season. Michell Miliano was awarded the win after pitching one inning of baseball. He has a 2-0 record this year with a 5.51 ERA. Anderson Polance recorded his second save of the year pitching the last 3 1/3 innings. Vladimir Echavarria went 4-for-4 with a double, and Junior Perez hit his 11th homer of the year. Perez is quietly putting up a great year in the desert. He is an 18-year-old right-handed-hitting outfielder out of the Dominican Republic. He has a .988 OPS so far this year.

DSL Padres (27-31) Lost 7-1

The DSL Padres lost 7-1 to the DSL Orioles on Friday morning. 6-foot-7 right-handed pitcher Gilberto Sosa started the game and went four innings pitched. The 19-year-old from the D.R. has a 5.20 ERA so far in the DSL League. 17-year-old catcher Wilfredo Tovar continues to play sporadically but owns a 1.046 OPS so far in 37 at-bats. He went 3-for-4 in the loss. 17-year-old outfielder Reginald Dowtson hit his fourth homer of the year for the Padres.
