LHP Adrian Morejon to be recalled by Padres
Left-handed pitcher Adrian Morejon will be recalled by the San Diego Padres.
The San Diego Padres are presently in a youth movement.
Several men have made their major league debut this season for the Padres and list will grow longer as Adrian Morejon is set to be promoted by the major league club and join the team on Saturday in Chicago.
Morejon is 20-years-old and three days younger than phenom MacKenzie Gore. He has spent the whole year in Amarillo, posting an 0-4 record with a 4.25 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. He has a nice assortment of pitches, featuring a mid 90s fastball with good movement. Morejon throws a plus curve and flashes a plus changeup as well. He throws the change with two different grips which is very unique. Morejon was signed by the Padres for $11 million in the 2016 international market spending spree in which the team spent over $85 million on the open market.
The left-handed Cuban pitcher spent time on the IL earlier this season with an arm injury, but since returning in early June, he has only allowed four earned runs in 15.1 innings pitched. All of those appearances were in one or two innings stints. He has only pitched every fifth day or so for Amarillo. It is yet to be determined what his role will be with the Padres though Dennis Lin of The Athletic reports he will pitch out of the pen immediately.
Morejon will join Luis Urias with the team in Chicago.
Adrian Morejon will join Luis UrÃas in Chicago tomorrow, sources tell The Athletic. Morejon, who has thrown seven consecutive hitless innings in Double A, will work out of the bullpen.

There is no indication yet on how the Padres will create roster space for both Urias and Morejon. Saturday morning could be a busy morning in regards to transactions.
Stay tuned.
