Jordan Napier is returning to SDSU for the 2025 season
Jordan Napier is returning to San Diego State. He announced his decision on social media on Wednesday.
Napier attended the Men’s Basketball contest against California Baptist on Wednesday night. He was made available to the media at halftime.
“I feel like I had unfinished business,” Napier explained when asked about his decision. “With the coaching staff, there was always great love. There was never any bad blood. …. I just felt like it was a good option for me.”
As a redshirt freshman in 2024, Napier had a breakout year in head coach Sean Lewis’ offense. He caught 43 passes for 440 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw a touchdown on the season.
Explosive plays are a point of emphasis for Lewis. Defined as a single gain of 20 or more yards, Napier tied with Marquez Cooper for the team lead with eight. His 53-yard reception against Wyoming was the longest play from scrimmage this year for the Aztecs. He also had the longest kickoff return, a 61-yarder against New Mexico.
“Just knowing that they have the best interest for me, as a player, as a man,” Napier replied when asked how SDSU’s staff influenced his decision. “Just to be a better man overall, I really feel like that’s what it was. Them showing that we have a good relationship, and I didn’t want that to go to waste.”
The Aztecs season did not go as planned, but the offseason is off to a terrific start. Napier announced his intention to leave the program but never actually entered the portal. It was a sign, he said, of his indecision. In the end, he wanted to continue the work he had started under Lewis.
My earliest sport’s memory involve tailgating at the Murph, running down the circular exit ramps, and seeing the Padres, Chargers and Aztecs play. As a second generation Aztec, I am passionate about all things SDSU. Other interests include raising my four children, being a great husband and teaching high school.
