Fort Wayne TinCaps at Dayton Dragons series preview 6/15-6/20
Fort Wayne ends their 12-game homestand and goes on the road this week against the Dayton Dragons.
Dayton is the High-A Central affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. They play their home games at the beautiful Day Air Ballpark in Dayton, Ohio.
This will be the first of two series, which are back to back on the road for Fort Wayne.
Below is a breakdown of what you will see in this series as the TinCaps look to gain ground in the Eastern Division standings. (stats as of 6/11/21)
What to Watch For Dayton:
Dayton’s Defense- They lead the High-A Central in fielding percentage and their pitching staff has given up the least amount of hits in the league. This has the Dragons tied for the best record in the league going into play on Saturday 6/12/21.
Graham Ashcraft– SP– Currently 3-1 in seven appearances with a 2.61ERA. He was the High-A Central pitcher of the week last week.
What to Watch For Fort Wayne:
Dwanya Williams-Sutton– OF– Activated from the 7-day injury list last week. Sutton was a 2018 5th round draft pick out of East Carolina. On the road this season, Sutton has a batting average of .313. When he gets ahead in the count his batting average jumps to .400. His return will benefit the TinCaps.
Moises Lugo-SP- AÂ player who is getting overlooked by many in my opinion. With Ethan Elliott, Matt Waldron, and Anderson Espinoza getting most of the starting pitching attention, Lugo has fared well this season. Lugo is 0-1 with a 3.23 so far this season. On the road, his number gets even better. In two starts on the road he has given up only four hits, and two earned runs. Opponents are only batting .121.
