In a very surprising turn of events, it has been reported by ESPN’s Rene Tovar and John Sutcliffe that Eduardo Coudet has been relieved of his duties this Monday.

Club Tijuana is currently in 11th place with 18 points, just three points out of a playoff spot in the Liga MX, and are in the quarterfinals of the Copa MX competition.

The announcement was especially surprising since there are only two games left in the Liga MX and a change could severely affect the team as they are trying to get into the playoffs.

The border city side went into this season in a rebuilding process after losing manager Miguel Herrera along with players like Milton Caraglio, Aviles Hurtado, and Guido Rodriguez.

“Chacho” was brought in along with a team that he constructed with players like Gustavo Bou, Damian Musto, Miller Bolano, and Juan Iturbe.

The team definitely has a lot of potential with the quality of players on the roster, but seemed to be missing something. This includes disciplinary issues that directly reflect on the manager, but the reasons as to why Coudet has left are still unknown.

The club has yet to release an official statement, and it is unclear if the Argentine was dismissed by the Xolos or if he resigned.

Club Tijuana will host Leon at the Estadio Caliente this Friday with a new manager at the helm.

It is likely that it will just be an interim manager to finish off the season before the front office decides to start another project. Friday night’s game is vital towards the Xolos’ playoff run and is a must-win, but it is unclear how this drastic change will affect the team’s performance, for better or for worse.
