The San Diego Padres had 10 men in action on Thursday.

In Peoria, the Javelinas were able to keep up their winning ways as they beat the Scottsdale Scorpions 4-2. The team is now 12-8 on the year and all alone in first place in the Arizona Fall League West division.

The other leagues were active as well, as games were being played in Mexico and Venezuela.

Both Franchy Cordero and Fernando Tatis were off as the Dominican Winter League had no games on the schedule. We will have to wait for this weekend to see the two prized prospects in action.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

Luis Urias continues to produce, as he went 1-3 in the Javelinas win. He walked, drove in a run, and was caught stealing in the night game. He was the team’s DH and is hitting .353 on the year. All signs point towards a Triple-A start for Urias as he is close to major league action.

Javier Guerra got the start at short, and went 0-4 with two strikeouts on Thursday. He is down to .313 on the season, but has looked better this season, both offensively and defensively.

Jerry Keel got the start for Peoria and went three innings, allowing two earned runs to score on five hits. He walked one and struck out two in his 38-pitch effort on Thursday. His ERA is at 1.80 on the year as this was his first rough outing for the Javelinas.

CARRIBEAN/MEXICAN/VENEZUELAN WINTER LEAGUES

Rafael Ortega was 1-5 with a walk. The outfielder is hitting .227 now after his first week of winter league action.

Luis Torrens is playing everyday for his Venezuelan team and went 0-4 with two K’s on Thursday. He is hitting .269 so far this year.

Alberth Martinez was 3-4 with a run scored and a stolen base on Thursday. The outfielder is hitting .310 on the year and playing center field.

Fernando Perez was 1-3 with a walk and a strikeout. The infielder is hitting .370 for his Mexican League team.

Kyle Lloyd got through three innings without allowing a run on Thursday. The soft-tossing right-hander allowed three hits and walked one, while striking out three in his 43 pitches.

Cesar Vargas went 4.1 innings pitched and allowed three runs on two hits. The Mexican right-hander walked three and struck out two while throwing 66 pitches on the night.

Gerardo Reyes went 0.2 inning pitched and allowed two hits. He did strike out two hitters in his 14 pitches thrown. His ERA in 5.06 so far this year.
