Down on the Farm: June 2- (Reed, Morejon Lead Storm to Victory)
The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres were 2-2 on Saturday.
Here is a quick recap of the action:
El Paso Chihuahuas (27-30) Lost 8-4
It has been a tough stretch of baseball for the El Paso Chihuahuas, as they have now dropped their fourth game out of five played. After being down three runs, the Chihuahuas clawed back with three runs in the seventh and a Javy Guerra double gave El Paso a lead going into the ninth inning. Tyler Webb and Robert Stock couldn’t hold the lead, however, and gave up five runs to allow the Sacramento River Cats to steal a victory. Luis Urias and Allen Craig each had an RBI in the losing effort. Coronado High product Fred Schlichtolz made his Triple-A debut as well, throwing three scoreless innings while striking out four batters.
Luis Urias: 1-4, RBI, BB

Javier Guerra: 2-4, RBI, 2B, 2 K, 2 E
Carlos Asuaje: 2-5, K

San Antonio Missions (34-21) Lost 11-6
It was another rough night for Colin Rea. The rehabbing right-hander allowed five runs on eight hits in 3 1/3 inning while surrendering two home runs. Lake Bachar provided little relief, giving up six runs on nine hits in three innings of work. Home runs by Austin Allen and Michael Gettys were not enough to bring San Antonio back as the offense couldn’t keep up with the Springfield Cardinals.
Michael Gettys: 2-4, HR, RBI, R
Austin Allen: 1-3, HR, RBI, R, K
Josh Naylor: 1-4, BB, 2 K
Colin Rea: 3 1/3 IP, 8 H, 5 ER, BB, 3 K (79 pitches-48 strikes) Loss

Lake Elsinore Storm (27-29) Won 5-1
Adrian Morejon had all the right stuff going for him tonight, as he twirled a beauty of a game for Lake Elsinore. The left-hander threw six innings of one-run ball, striking out seven in a quality start. Buddy Reed continued to pad his numbers by going 3-4 at the leadoff spot while Brad Zunica hit a two-run home run to cushion Morejon. Blake Rogers and Elliot Ashbeck threw three innings of scoreless relief to ensure the victory on the 18th birthday of their beloved mascot, Thunder.
Buddy Reed: 3-4, 2B, CS
Brad Zunica: 2-4, HR, 2 RBI, R, K
Luis Torrens: 1-4, RBI, R, 2B

Elliot Ashbeck: 2 IP, H, BB, 2 K (22 pitches-13 strikes)
Fort Wayne TinCaps (26-28) Won 5-3
The TinCaps got big games from Robbie Podorsky and Justin Lopez and were buoyed by an excellent start by Osvaldo Hernandez. The left-hander threw six scoreless frames while striking out six batters and keeping the TinCaps in the game. Podorsky had seven hits and two RBI between them as Lopez looks to start a hot streak at the plate. Tirso Ornelas had a two-run home run and Fort Wayne staved off a last-minute assault from the Great Lakes Loons to hold on to the victory.
Robbie Podorsky: 4-5, RBI, 3 R, 3B, SB
Justin Lopez: 3-3, RBI, 2 BB
Tirso Ornelas: 1-5, HR, 2 RBI, R, K
