Down on the Farm: June 10 (Gore Returns as TinCaps’ Bats Have Huge Day)
Today was a big day on the farm, as No. 3 prospect MacKenzie Gore made his first start for the Fort Wayne TinCaps in almost a month.
The TinCaps, Lake Elsinore Storm and San Antonio Missions all played games as scheduled today.
The El Paso Chihuahuas were to play at the Iowa Cubs. That game was postponed due to rain. The DSL Padres were off on the day.
Fort Wayne TinCaps 15, Lansing Lugnuts 0
The TinCaps’ bats came out in a big way today, as they put up 15 runs on 19 hits. Gore pitched two innings in his first start since May 19. He was activated from the 10-day disabled list. He pitched shutout innings as he didn’t allow a hit. He struck out three and issued a walk.
Esteury Ruiz scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the first. He scored from third on a sacrifice fly by Justin Lopez. Fort Wayne broke the game wide open in the fourth inning, putting up six runs.
Ruiz drove in two runs with an RBI-double, Jack Suwinski drove in a run with an RBI-triple. Jalen Washington, Luis Almanzar and Gabriel Arias added RBI-singles in the inning. Arias added an RBI-double in the bottom of the seventh, and Ruiz hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Lake Elsinore Storm 7, Lancaster Jet Hawks 1
Lake Elsinore (32-31) moved above .500 with a 7-1 win over Lancaster in a Sunday road game. Ronald Bolanos made the start, allowing just one run over seven innings. He had plenty of run support to pick up the win.
Luis Torrens put the Storm ahead in the top of the fifth with a two-run double. Torrens and Potts each had a solo home run in the top of the seventh. Edward Olivares made six trips to the plate during the game. He hit a triple.

Corpus Christi Hooks 8, San Antonio Missions 2
The Missions fell victim to a seven-run seventh inning, as they lost 8-2 at Corpus Christi. Jason Jester was the pitcher of record, as he allowed all seven runs in the Hooks’ big inning. Jacob Nix made the start, going 5.1 innings. He gave up only a run, bringing his ERA to 0.63.
Josh Naylor hit a solo shot in the sixth inning for his 10th home run of the year. Michael Gettys scored on a fielder’s choice in the top of the eighth. Fernando Tatis, Jr. picked up a golden sombrero on the day, striking out four times.
