The San Diego Padres affiliates were 2-5 on the night, as only the AZL teams were victorious.

In El Paso, the Chihuahuas saw Yangervis Solarte man the shortstop position. He was flawless on the night, but was not challenged all that often. He did get two hits and looks well on his way to returning to the Padres in the next few days. Zach Lee was knocked around again, as the former Dodgers’ top prospect has failed to find any success this year. Franchy Cordero had a homer and a triple and drove in four runs for El Paso in the 9-8 loss.

In San Antonio, there was a bit of a dust-up, as Josh Naylor took offense to something and benches cleared momentarily. No punches were thrown and no ejections were enforced. Joey Lucchesi threw a great game, but was the victim of the long ball. Webster Rivas had two hits for the Missions in the 4-1 loss.

The Storm lost 5-2 on the road. Fernando Perez led the team offensively with three hits and Ruddy Giron went 2-5 with a home run out of the leadoff spot. Michael Gettys was 0-3 with three K’s as he works his way back from a shoulder injury. Jake Esch was handed the loss after giving up three earned runs in 5.2 innings pitched.

The TinCaps lost on a horrible defensive play in the bottom of the eighth. With two outs, Hansel Rodriguez induced a week pop up that fell in between three TinCaps and prolonged the inning. A tough loss for this young group. Jim McDade went six innings for the team and Marcus Greene Jr continues his hit streak as he went 3-4 with two doubles in the 7-6 loss.

The Dust Devils won 2-1 despite only getting three hits on the night. Emmanuel Ramirez was brilliant over six innings as he struck out seven batters and only allowed one run. Austin Smith closed the game out by pitching a 1-2-3 ninth striking out the side.

The AZL Padres team won 7-4 as Jeisson Rosario had a great night at the plate. He went 3-4 with a home run and three RBI. Rosario also started in center and stole a base for the Padres team. Austin Hedges went 0-3 with two K’s, but did get in some work behind the plate. Jordy Barley continues to hit, going 1-2 with two runs, an RBI and a walk.

The other AZL team won as well, as the AZL Padres 2 were victorious 6-1. Emmanuel Clase threw five scoreless innings and struck out six batters. Oliver Basabe and Juan Fernandez each recorded two hits and Gabriel Arias drove in two runs.
