The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went 4-5 on Monday.

Here is a recap of the day’s action.

El Paso Chihuahuas Won 14-9 (71-50)

It was another big offensive day for the Chihuahuas in the Pacific Coast League. Rodrigo Orozco, Aderlin Rodriguez, and Esteban Quiroz each had three RBI games for El Paso. Ty France saw his batting average dip below .400 with a 1-for-5 day. Every player who started today’s game got at least one base hit, including starting pitcher Jerry Keel. Keel pitched five innings and allowed four runs to pick up the win.

Amarillo Sod Poodles Won Game 1 3-2 (63-55)

Amarillo picked up where they left off last night after the game was suspended due to inclement weather. The game was picked up in the bottom of the sixth inning with a score of 2-2. The game remained tied all the way to the 11th inning. Darius Valdez pitched a scoreless inning in the eleventh, and Edward Olivares led off the bottom of the eleventh with a walk-off RBI single.

Luis Patino ran into some late trouble in his Double-A debut as the right-hander went 4.2 innings and struck out seven while walking four. He allowed three unearned runs to cross the plate in the fifth inning and wasn’t able to finish the inning. Peter Van Gansen hit the go-ahead run in the sixth inning with an RBI single to score Kohlwey. Luis Torrens went 2-for-4 with an RBI single.

Lake Elsinore Storm Lost 9-4 (61-58)

Jacob Nix made another start at Lake Elsinore, but it didn’t end well for the right-hander. Nix went 4.1 innings and allowed all nine runs to score on eight hits and two walks. Only five of those runs were earned as the Storm committed three errors. Tirso Ornelas returned to the Storm lineup and went 2-for-4 with two singles. Eguy Rosario had a two-RBI single while Allen Cordoba hit a solo home run in the losing effort.

Reinaldo Ilarraza immediately put the Dust Devils on top with an RBI triple in the first inning while Logan Driscoll picked up three RBIs without getting a hit. Connor Lehmann pitched three scoreless innings while striking out two batters. Jason Reynolds followed Lehmann by pitching three innings and striking out five batters. Jordy Barley went 1-for-3 with a double and two runs scored.

The AZL Rangers got the drop on starter Noel Vela in the first two innings of the game as Vela allowed four runs on six hits in just 1.2 innings of work. Reliever Brandon Komar also allowed four runs in the two innings he pitched. Chris Givin continues to hit in Arizona as his batting average sits at .365 after hitting an RBI triple. Hudson Head also got a single hitting at the top of the lineup.

The AZL Padres 2 squad only managed three hits while the Rangers got ahead on a sacrifice bunt in the sixth inning. Robert Stock pitched one inning to open the game and struck out the side on nine pitches. Taylor Lomack went 1-for-4 with an RBI single to bring home the only Padres run. Cristian Heredia and Angel Solarte had the other two hits for the team. Jose Garcia took over after stock and pitched five innings, but took the loss despite striking out four.

Eduard Hidalgo also had a multi-hit effort by going 2-for-3. Starter Manuel Avila took a hard-luck loss, allowing two runs in four innings pitched.

DSL Padres Lost Game 2 10-6 (28-34)

After dropping the first game of the doubleheader, the DSL Padres got more offense in Game 2 but still absorbed a loss in a shortened game. Reginald Dowston provided a majority of the offense for the Padres with his three-run home run in the third inning. Axcel Peralta had two RBIs with a double. The only pitcher for the Padres who didn’t allow a run was Jonathan Alcantara, who pitched two innings of shutout relief.
