Down on the Farm: 4/19 (Logan Allen Has Strong Start & Myers Ends Rehab with Storm)
The Padres had four minor league affiliates in action on Thursday night.
Cuban phenom Adrian Morejon started for the Lake Elsinore Storm and Wil Myers ended his rehab with the Storm.
Here is a short recap on Thursday’s games:
El Paso Chihuahuas (10-5) Won 6-5
The El Paso Chihuahuas won their third consecutive game, defeating the Reno Aces 6-4 at Greater Nevada Field. The win clinched the series for El Paso and helped the team move into first place in the Pacific Coast League. The Chihuahuas are off to a fast start this season, led by their dominant pitching staff. Kyle Lloyd, a familiar name for most, started tonight for El Paso and began the game strong. Lloyd didn’t allow any runs in the first four innings of the game. His night ended after he walked two batters and found himself in a jam that cost him four runs, and almost the game, for El Paso. Lloyd finished the night pitching five innings, giving up four earned runs, three hits, and four walks, while earning the win. Franmil Reyes hit a two-run opposite field home run in the first inning off of the foul pole in right field to give the Chihuahuas the early 2-0 lead. Brett Nicholas hit a solo homer in the top of the fifth inning. The bullpen did its job, securing the win, pitching four shutout innings.

The Storm rallied behind three home runs in a late-inning come from behind victory against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Thursday evening. Adrian Morejon was roughed up in his third start of the season, allowing four earned runs and six hits in just four innings pitched. This season should prove to be a valuable time for Morejon to grow as a pitcher. Brad Zunica had two hits, and one of them was a solo home run in the top of the second inning. Wil Myers hit another solo home run for the Storm in his third game since coming off the DL. The Storm retook the lead in the 9th inning on Luis Torrens’ two-run homer that made it 5-4, Lake Elsinore. Fort Wayne Tin Caps (4-10) Lost 10-2
The Fort Wayne pitching staff has struggled early on this season. Aaron Leasher has been surprisingly good and Nick Margevicius continues to make a name for himself. The pitching staff was roughed up on Thursday evening against the Great Lakes Loons at Parkview Field. Mason Thompson started for the Tin Caps and pitched just two innings with eight earned runs, six hits, six walks, and three strikeouts. The bats were silenced with just three hits tonight. Jack Suwinski went 1-2 with two RBI, the first coming from a double that scored Jeisson Rosario in the fifth inning and then his sacrifice fly to score Rosario in the sixth. Caleb Boushley pitched three and one-third innings of two-run ball with four strikeouts in relief for Thompson. Jared Carkuff pitched a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts in his Fort Wayne debut. The Tin Caps’ offense will need to raise their .240 team batting average this season if they want a chance to compete in the Midwest League.

Margevicious and Leasher have been solid for fort wayne….kind of weird you mention gore and his 3 inn as the one who hasn’t struggled.
Yeah, your right. Nick Margevicious and Aaron Leasher have been the two best pitchers for the Tin Caps so far this season. Sorry about the misinterpretation.
