Chargers News: Miles Jack an Option for Chargers at Safety?
The San Diego Chargers are reportedly very interested in UCLA linebacker Miles Jack. The team has worked him out on multiple occasions and really likes what they see from this talented young defender.
Myles Jack expects to play safety if Chargers draft him. “They feel like I can fill that spot Eric Weddle was at.” https://t.co/runO4oHfzK

There are reports that the team is satisfied from what they have seen from Jack despite a knee injury and consider him a strong candidate to be a safety for the team. The Chargers have worked him out on many safety and defensive back drills and seem eager to select the young man.
The 20-year-old is very young and his future in the game is not set in stone. He is currently 245 lbs and that is traditionally a linebacker weight, but he has the ability to slim down and could make a very interesting hard-hitting safety. We already know he has the speed to run down field and Jack is also very athletic in his leaping abilities. He could make the transition fairly easy.
Jack enjoys the idea of possibly playing safety and would surely be a hard-hitting physical presence for the team. He is not expected to be chosen by the Chargers with their first round pick. However there is talk that he will not make it passed the Jaguars who hold the fifth pick. If the Chargers want Jack, they might have to bite the bullet and select him with the third pick in the draft. Either that or get extremely creative in trading down and get multiple first round selections. Who know what Telesco has up his sleeve.
Miles Jack had some impressive numbers in 2013 and 2014 for the Bruins. He averaged 81 tackles, 1/2 a sack and 1 1/2 interceptions during his freshman and sophomore year. Last season he was injured after week three and missed the rest of the year. Knee surgery has limited him this offseason, but he wowed scouts in his Pro Day a couple of weeks ago.
Miles Jack is so versatile that he even spent time as the Bruins running back. He has rushed for 11 touchdowns on 68 carries and owns a 5.7 yards per rush average as a Bruin. The young man has the intangibles to be successful for a long time. Reports are that he will be a great player for a long time. The Chargers have interest. Is he worth the gamble with the third pick? What do you think Chargers fans?
