The minor league affiliates for the San Diego Padres went 2-2 on Tuesday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (78-56) Won 7-6
El Paso tied the game and eventually took the lead and held on to it after the Bees made a comeback in the ninth inning. Aderlin Rodriguez and Peter Van Gansen both hit home runs as part of two-hit games. Taylor Kohlwey had a run-scoring double while Matthew Batten hit an RBI single. Emmanuel Ramirez allowed five runs on nine hits in 5.2 innings but got a no-decision for his work.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (69-63) Lost 8-4
MacKenzie Gore made a surprise start for the Sod Poodles and went 1.2 innings, striking out five in the process. The top prospect was more than impressive, as he comfortably sat in the 94-96 MPH range with his fastball, even topping out at 97 MPH. The bullpen was not as solid, as the Drillers offense sprang to life as soon as Gore left the game. Kyle Overstreet and Tyler Benson both went 3-for-4 with an RBI each.

Lake Elsinore took the initial lead in today’s game, but it wasn’t enough as the Quakes came back to steal the win. Tirso Ornelas, who has hit .341 in his past 10 games, drove in the only Lake Elsinore run with an RBI single in the fourth inning to score Gabriel Arias. Felix Minjarez pitched four innings and allowed just one run while striking out three in a no-decision. Taking the loss was Cody Tyler, who allowed two runs in 2.2 innings pitched.

The one run scored by Fort Wayne was all it took to secure the win. Jawuan Harris drove in Chris Givin in the bottom of the fifth inning after an RBI single. The double was part of a 2-for-4 day for the Fort Wayne center fielder. Starter Efrain Contreras tossed five shutout innings while striking out five Whitecaps. Henry Henry earned the save after pitching 1.1 perfect innings.
