San Diego Padres affiliates went 4-4 on Saturday.

El Paso Chihuahuas (61-39) Won 13-9
In 11 innings, the El Paso Chihuahuas walked away from Albuquerque with a 13-9 win. Five runs in the 11th were enough for Travis Radke to get the final three outs and record the victory. Brad Wieck was awarded the win working out of the pen with two scoreless innings. Steven Wilson threw two scoreless innings as well for the Chihuahuas. Ty France was the hitting star going 4-for-5 in the win with two doubles. Austin Allen had a huge double in the 11th and went 3-for-4, driving in five runs in the game. Travis Jankowski went 0-for-7 in the win with four strikeouts. He has played in five out of the last six days and appears to be very close to being 100 percent healthy. His timing just needs to be refined before the Padres activate him.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (49-48) Lost 14-3
Jesse Scholtens was knocked around for eight runs on ten hits in just four innings pitched, as Northwest Arkansas trounced the Sod Poodles by the score of 14-3. Jean Cosme also gave up four runs in two innings pitched for Amarillo. Infielder Peter Van Gansen pitched the ninth for the team, and he threw a scoreless frame (go figure). Ivan Castillo slugged his seventh homer of the season in a 2-for-5 effort. He has a .905 OPS so far this season and is leading the Texas League in hitting with a .345 average. Hudson Potts went 1-for-3 with an RBI and is now hitting .324 over his last ten games.

Lake Elsinore Storm (51-47) Won 5-0
Luis Patino was dominant on Saturday night as he went 6 1/3 innings pitched for the Storm without allowing a run. The right-handed pitcher from Colombia struck out seven in the game and has a 2.93 ERA in the Cal League. Lake Elsinore won 5-0 in a three-pitcher shutout against the Visalia Rawhide. Nick Kuzia and Seth Blair threw the last 2 2/3 innings for Lake Elsinore. Shortstop Gabriel Arias slugged his eighth homer of the year in a 2-for-4 effort. Arias is now 10-for-40 (.350) in his last ten games for Lake Elsinore. The 19-year-old, right-handed hitter is really showing promise with the bat. Fort Wayne TinCaps (42-54) Lost 6-4
Three runs in the fifth were the difference in the game as Fort Wayne lost 6-4 to the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Efrain Contreras went five innings, allowing five earned runs and now has a 3.51 ERA on the year. Edwuin Bencomo relieved him and went two scoreless innings. Jose Quezada finished the game off going two scoreless innings and now has a 1.84 ERA on the year in 35 games. Tucupita Marcano and Juwuan Harris went 2-for-3 in the loss. Tri-City Dust Devils (16-20) Lost 5-2
The Dust Devils lost 5-2 at the hands of the Vancouver Canadians on Saturday. Ethan Elliott went 3 1/3 innings of scoreless ball to start the game. He now has an ERA of 0.67 on the season for Tri-City. Felix Minjarez was charged with the loss after going 2 2/3 innings and allowing two earned runs to score. Wen-Hua Sung went two innings in the game and allowed a run on three hits. Jordy Barley hit his third homer of the year and has a .702 OPS for the Dust Devils in 139 at-bats. The 19-year-old has been productive this season for the Dust Devils. 21-year-old former USC outfielder Matthew Acosta has a .753 OPS in 117 games. He went 2-for-4 on Saturday.

AZL Padres 1 (16-10) Lost 5-4
Both Padres AZL teams squared off against each other on Saturday in Peoria. Jeferson Garcia against Laurbert Arias was the matchup on the mound. Arias, the 18-year-old right-handed pitcher from Venezuela, had been pitching pretty well but he gave up three runs in 4 2/3 innings for the AZL 1 team. His ERA is now at 2.67 on the season. Garcia pitched better, allowing one earned run in five innings. The 19-year-old right-hander from Venezuela now has a 6.46 ERA. Moises Lugo pitched the last 4 1/3 innings for the AZL 1 team, allowing just one earned run. He has a very respectable 1.96 ERA in seven games. The two teams committed five errors between them, which is not ideal. The AZL 2 team committed four errors in the win. Former USD second baseman Ripken Reyes committed two errors, and catcher Gilberto Vizcarra made two errors himself. CJ Abrams went 1-for-4, and Hudson Head went 0-for-3 with an RBI in the loss.

The DSL Padres scored six runs in the first two innings and went on to an 8-3 win over the DSL D-backs on Saturday. Jesus Lugo was on the mound, and he went six innings for the Padres, allowing only one earned run in and striking out three. He now has a 1.88 ERA on the season. The 21-year-old could be promoted to Arizona shortly. 18-year-old Manuel Avila relieved Lugo and earned his first save of the season pitching the last three innings of relief. He has a 4.23 ERA on the year. 17-year-old Edwin Rojas was the hitting star as he went 3-for-4 with a double in the win.
