Down on the Farm: April 28 (El Paso Wins 9th Straight as Luis Urias Homers Three Times)

San Diego Padres affiliates were 1-4 on Sunday as only El Paso won.

El Paso Chihuahuas (16-7) Won 10-6

Luis Urias has now homered five times in his last two games, as the infielder slammed three homers on Sunday. The Chihuahuas beat Las Vegas by the score of 10-6 and have now won nine straight games. Las Vegas has lost five in a row and is now 1.5 games behind the Chihuahuas for first place in the PCL Pacific Division. Bryan Mitchell made a start for El Paso and was roughed up a bit. Six total pitchers threw for the Chihuahuas. Tyler Higgins recorded the win.

Amarillo Sod Poodles (10-14) Lost 4-2

The Soddies lost a close one on Sunday, as Arkansas rallied late for the win. Jorge Ona recorded half of the teams hit in the game as he went 3-for-4 with a run batted in. Amarillo stranded seven runners on the day as they could just get that timely hit. Jesse Scholtens got the start and went five innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits. Emmanuel Ramirez was hung with the loss out of the bullpen and is now 1-3 with a 5.30 ERA on the year.

Lake Elsinore Storm (11-13) Lost 5-4

The Storm have been in a rough patch since starting the season hot. They dropped a close game at home on Sunday as the Inland Empire 66ers scored four runs in the fifth and never looked back. Tom Cosgrove was on the hill for Lake Elsinore and took the loss after allowing five earned runs on eight hits in the contest. Lake Elsinore left five men on base in the game, including Jack Suwinski who doubled in the ninth.

Fort Wayne had a doubleheader on Sunday, as their Saturday game was rained out. Ryan Weathers only went two innings before the delay but looked effective. As the game resumed, Fort Wayne just could not get the big hit as they stranded eight runners in the game.

The TinCaps were roughed up in the second game of the day, as the South Bend Cubs knocked out 13 hits in the game. The TinCaps only managed five and showed little life with the bat.
